Popular with swimmers and surfers, this state park features 3.5 miles of sandy beaches. Park your car at the State Beach and head north for a nice long walk on the sand (>30 min) to San Clemente Pier.
This is a fast, flat course that showcases one of the most scenic beaches in the area. The trail is a combination of hard-packed sand and boardwalk. There a couple of small paved sections. This trail gets very busy on the weekends and is best hit early in the morning. There are several other parking / access points along the trail. North Trailhead: Exit the I-5 on E Avenida Pico. Follow Pico west for 0.7 miles until it ends on N. El Camino Real. Turn right and look for the Metrolink Station. South Trailhead: Exit the I-5 on Ave Calafia. Head west for 0.2 miles. Ave Calafia ends at the parking area.
If you like seafood and want a great ocean view, the Fisherman's Restaurant and Bar is a fun choice for lunch or dinner. It is located on the San Clemente Pier itself. You can walk down the pier while waiting for your table.
Located near the Fisherman's Restaurant and Bar, Pierside Kitchen + Bar is another restaurant located just steps from the water in downtown San Clemente's "Pier Bowl." It is a good option for breakfast, brunch, or dinner.
For those the like exploring the local cafes, restaurants, boutiques, and specialty stores, the famous Del Mar Avenue is for you.
For Disney fans, spend time at the original Disney theme park. It gets pretty crowded these days, but your best bets for smaller queues might be Monday through Thursday.
