What if we can't make it to Spain?

Answer

No worries! We are going to have an ABQ reception for all our friends and family that can't join us in Spain!

Madrid is where Rafa was born and raised. We wanted to share and honor this special day family and a place Hayden and Rafa cherish dearly! / Madrid es donde nació y creció Rafa. Queríamos compartir y honrar este día tan especial, a su familia y un lugar que Rafa y Hayden aprecian profundamente.

Will I need a passport?

Answer

YES! If you don't already have one, we strongly suggest you get one ASAP as they 2-3 weeks to arrive.

Hotel Suggestions

Answer

Rafa's family has kindly provided a few recommendations. You will find them under the travel tab. Please keep in mind our wedding venue is 15-20 minutes outside of the city. We strongly suggest you stay near Plaza Mayor as it is the heart of Madrid and where we recommend you explore to maximize your stay in Madrid.

When should we arrive in Spain for the wedding?

Answer

Due to travel period/jet lag we suggest you arrive at least a day or two prior to the wedding to give you some time to adjust. Direct family and bridal party should arrive earlier to account for dinner/rehearsal the day prior. We think everyone should make the most of this trip, in our travel tab we have listed 3 of our favorite places to visit just outside of Madrid, and would love to share our love of those places with all of you!

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception? / ¿Hay estacionamiento para la ceremonia o recepción?

Yes there will be a private parking lot provided. Sí, habrá un estacionamiento privado disponible.

No, transportation will be up to you.

What’s the best way to exchange currency in Spain?

Answer

Spain uses Euros you can exchange money prior to or upon arrival, however most places will accept US cards (Apple Pay, Visa, Master Card, etc.)

What is the weather like during September

Answer

September is one of the best months to visit Spain. The peak summer crowds have all gone home, but the weather is still hot and the sea warm. The temperatures range between lows of 60 degrees and highs of 80 degrees.

Are there any language barriers I should know about?

Answer

Though we suggest you freshen up on your high school/college Español, or download and practice with Babble or Dulingo, you will be able to get around relatively easy. The "Immersive Spanish con Kav" Podcast is also a great one for some good basics like ordering and greetings!Many of the people and establishments you encounter will know just enough English to converse or assist you during your stay.

Yes! We eloped 4-22-23 in a beautiful cabin in Santa Fe, New Mexico with their closest friends and Bodie, of course! ¡Sí! Nos fugamos el 22/4/23 a una hermosa cabaña en Santa Fe, Nuevo México, con sus mejores amigos y, por supuesto, con Bodie.
