While you may not be taking a dip at this time of year (or maybe you will be??!!), it's worth it for the views. We highly recommend the Empire Bluff Trail, Pyramid Point Overlook, North Bar Lake Beach, Esch Beach (Otter Creek), and Platte River Point Beach. There's also, of course, the classic dune climb (https://www.nps.gov/slbe/planyourvisit/dune_climb.htm), which is amazing and includes stunning views. If you have a national parks pass, bring it for parking!
Great views, lovely hike.
There are a ton of wineries in the Traverse City area: especially on the Leelanau Peninsula (https://lpwines.com/) and Old Mission Peninsula (https://www.ompwinetrail.com/). A few faves are Mawby (all sparkling), Rove Winery, and Black Star Farms. For beer and cider, we also love Tandem Cider and Farm Club on the Leelanau Peninsula, and Jolly Pumpkin on Old Mission Peninsula.
Aka the Old State Hospital. Lots of shops and cute restaurants.
Sophie’s sister-in-law Anna’s family farm. Sophie’s brother James farms and helps manage the market. There might be a corn maze at this time of year… and don’t miss out on the amazing baked goods!
