We were first introduced when Jay was hired as a bouncer for an event at our local fire company social quarters, where I worked in the kitchen and as a part-time waitress. He eventually got hired as a cook in the kitchen, and our sarcastic personalities matched well.
A quick 2-day trip to the Poconos as a last minute get-away for the two of us turned into 3 days (and an extra day off school!) when all of our plans went awry. After a failed attempt to go ziplining, arriving too late at a steakhouse for dinner, and a short horseback ride spent calming a little girl on a boujie horse, he finally popped the question on our midday hike to Bridesmaid Falls at Bushkill Falls. Of course I picked the long trail instead of the popular one. After admiring the waterfall, I turn around to see him on the ground behind me and couldn't help blurting out, "Wtf are you doing" before realizing that he had not, in fact, fallen over. Instead, he was on one knee and holding a box and a ring saying, "Will you marry me?" Of course I said yes, but thank goodness there was no one there to photograph my hot, sweaty self that day.
