The Baraat is the reception of the groom, his family and friends traditionally in the bride's home. Seeing as we are having our wedding at a venue, this is the tradition leading up to the ceremony. It is the formal ritual of the wedding. The groom historically rides a horse while leading the way for his friends and family dancing on the beat of the drums. Our wedding venue unfortunately will not allow a horse so Alex will be making a grand entrance with his groomsmen and family
Most western/American weddings see white as a bridal color which was popularized by Queen Victoria in the 19th century. The traditional bridal color in South Asia is red. If you would like to abstain from wearing a "bridal" color, please do not wear red on Saturday.
The Waleema will be our version of an "americanized" wedding. The Bride will be in a white wedding dress and the groom will be in a suit. Feel free to wear your best take on the roaring 1920's.
We would love to include all of the beautiful children in our lives but we cannot afford to at this time. There are only a handful of kids invited to our wedding and we appreciate everyone understanding our limitations
Please RSVP as soon as possible. We need firm numbers for our vendors so we will have a hard cut off the first week of September.
