In the village of Aurora, nestled amidst the scenic landscapes of upstate New York, the welcome back dance was about to unfold. The air buzzed with anticipation as students gathered in the minimally adorned Sommer Center, ready to create memories. Amongst the crowd, two souls unknowingly stood on the precipice of a life-changing encounter. Naveed, a charismatic & vivacious gender studies major, & Alex, a radiant & ambitious physics student, found themselves drawn together by the encouragement of a mutual friend. As the music swelled, Naveed & Alex locked eyes across the room. With a burst of courage, Naveed approached Alex, & asked him to dance. They shared their first dance to Blurred lines. They quickly left the dance to chat. Conversation began slow but quickly flowed with ease, laughter filling the gaps between words. They discovered shared interests & dreams. As the night unfolded, Naveed & Alex's connection deepened as Naveed dared Alex to jump into the lake & they spent the rest of the night talking. In the weeks that followed, their love story continued to blossom. They spent countless hours exploring the quaint village, hand in hand, creating memories that would forever be etched in their hearts. They cheered each other on during late-night study sessions, encouraged each other's ambitions, & offered unwavering support through the highs & lows of college life. However, as graduation loomed on the horizon for Naveed, reality cast its shadow over their love story. Maybe this is just a college romance, thought Naveed. Fate, it seemed, had a plan of its own. Alex was offered admission to Columbia University in NYC a year after Naveed graduated. Naveed & Alex spent months exploring the beauty of New York City while deepening their own connection. That is, until Alex graduated & during his PhD program had to move to San Diego. Torn between their love for each other & the call of their respective careers, Naveed & Alex found themselves facing a difficult decision. Their hearts ached at the thought of being separated, but they understood that pursuing their dreams was vital for their individual growth. With heavy hearts & tearful goodbyes, Naveed & Alex bid farewell to their tiny studio apartment on the UWS & embarked on separate journeys. They promised to stay connected, nurturing their love from afar & trusting that distance could never diminish what they shared. Over the years, Naveed & Alex defied the odds. They found solace in texts, late-night phone calls, & video chats that bridged the gap between them. They celebrated each other's triumphs, shared struggles, & continued to grow both personally and professionally. With joy in their hearts & dreams realized, Alex FINALLY proposed to Naveed. Not once but twice. Alex wanted an intimate proposal that was just the two of them where they shared their first conversation- at the dock in Aurora & then he proposed AGAIN with the help of our friends Zoe and Derek on their rooftop in Brooklyn where Alex had a giant sign that read “Will you marry me?” Naveed said YES & got a job in San Diego to make the move cross country. Naveed & Alex embraced their new life in San Diego. Surrounded by sun-kissed beaches & endless possibilities, they discovered that their love had only grown stronger over the years. They built a home filled with laughter, love, & the vibrant colors of their intertwined lives. As they walked hand in hand along the shores of the Pacific Ocean, Naveed & Alex reflect on their incredible journey.
