If you have an extra night or 2 in Guatemala please make sure to visit the Spanish Colonial City of Antigua. Stroll the cobblestone streets, lounge on the grass of one of the many beautiful ruins throughout the city or hike up one of the volcanoes overlooking the city for amazing views. Antigua is only 45 minutes from the airport and is located in between the airport and the lake, so if you have time please make sure you are able to stop by.

If hiking an active volcano is on your bucket list, then here it is! Volcano Pacaya is about 30 minutes from the City of Antigua and is a challenging and beautiful day trip to take while you are staying in the city.
Huge spa with thermal baths & spa treatments. Perfect stop on your way back from hiking Volcan Pacaya.
De La Gente is a tour company in Antigua and they can take you on a wonderful coffee tour where you see how coffee is grown on the side of a volcano, then get to taste the results while learning about the process from an indigenous farmer. If coffee isn't your thing they have many other food/drink tours available.
AAAHHHH. It's a HOBBIT TOWN! Cute place to visit for lunch and a drink. About 30 minutes outside of Antigua and they can arrange a shuttle for you to go there and back.
If you're into golfing this is the best place to do it in Guatemala. La Reunion is about a 45 min drive from Antigua so it is an easy day trip to arrange with your hotel/lodging.

This town is the starting point for all travel on the lake. This is where you will have your shuttles drop you off to catch a boat to your hotel/lodging. There is also a grocery store for anything you will need while on the lake.

This dock in the main town of Panajachel should be used as the launching spot for all of your travel on the lake. You can also use the dock at Hotel Atitlan if you staying there or have lunch there during the day.
Reserva Natural Atitlan is the largest Nature Reserve on the lake where you can zip line & hike. The nature reserve is located just behind Hotel Atitlan.
This is the town where the wedding is! Tiny little village with no road access. Santa Cruz doc has some fun little bars/restaurants. Everything is walkable in Santa Cruz as long as you have the right shoes.

This tour company is located in the town of Santa Cruz La Laguna and is close to many of the recommended hotels. Please feel free to book a hike, tour, boat ride or just rent some kayaks to explore the lake.
If you would like to try out a yoga class or book a spa treatment this is close walking distance from the venue.

San Marcos is a wonderful little hippie town on the side of the lake. One of our favorites to visit and grab a smoothie while watching all of the ex-pats showing off their zen & peaceful existence. Namaste.
If you're in San Marcos, you gotta get to the Cerro Tzankujil Nature Reserve and jump off the platform. Don't forget your towel or you will be using your socks to dry off.
If you wanna party, this is the spot. Little Mayan village right under San Pedro Volcano where you can find many waterfront hostels & bars. Recommended day spot for a cocktail and socializing with the locals.
Another Volcano to hike! This volcano hike is beautiful, but it is a challenge so don't plan on it the morning after a few cervecas:) Please arrange hike with your Hotel/Lodging.
If the Volcan San Pedro hike is a little too extreme, then take this slightly easier option leaving from the same town. Gorgeous views of the lake.
San Juan La Laguna is known for it's beautiful hand made textiles and friendly people. Please take a short trip over to this quaint Mayan Village to learn about the textile process and to get some fun souvenirs.
Lake created inside of a Volcan Laguna and is still sacred to the Mayans in the area. Fun day trip offered through Tours Atitlan and other tour companies.
One of the largest and most well-known markets in all of Central America can be found in the small indigenous Mayan town of Chichicastenango. Market is on Thursdays and Sundays and a tour can be scheduled through Tours Atitlan.
Largest Mayan town on the south west shores of the lake. Please shop around the local markets and visit the church in the center of town.
