It was a late summer night in Broad Ripple, Indianapolis. The year is 2017. Kelli and Brandon were both enjoying a night in the popular local reggae club, Casba. Kelli spotted Brandon from across the room, and found him attractive. She decided to approach him for a dance, which they did. They ran into each other once more and danced again before the night was over. Kelli was much too shy to further express her interest in him, so she continued on about her night until it was nearly time for the club to close. On the way out of the club, Kelli and Brandon passed each other once more. No more dancing, no words exchanged. Until Whitley Chilton decided otherwise. Whitley knew Kelli found Brandon attractive, and did what any friend would do... played matchmaker. Whitley took it upon herself to push Kelli into Brandon as hard as she could. Brandon turned around shocked and instantly defensive, until he realized it was Kelli. Brandon then followed Kelli outside of the club, where they had their first conversation and exchanged phone numbers. The rest is history...
Fast forward to December 2019. Meeting families, moving in, traveling the world, sharing goals and falling in love has occurred in between Casba and this day. Kelli decided to round up a group of friends to head to Mass Ave for brunch at popular local restaurant, Love Handle. The day started out ordinary, for this was a group that commonly hung out on weekends and in spare time. Everyone was catching up, eating food and in great spirits. Kelli got up and went to the bathroom just as everyone was finishing their food. She returned to the dining room area and approached the table where everyone was sitting. They all had their phones out, taking pictures of Lamont (who so happened to be the birthday boy). Brandon points to the ground behind Kelli, and says, "Did you drop that $20 bill?". Naturally, Kelli turns around looking for the money. There was no money on the ground. By this time, all the cameras pointed at Lamont had turned and pointed at Kelli. Kelli turns back around, confused, and that's when Brandon was down on one knee. Still slightly confused, Kelli didn't know what to say. Brandon then pulled out a small purple box, and revealed a gorgeous ring inside. Brandon decided it was time to take the next step in the relationship, and asked for Kelli's hand in marriage. After saying, "Oh my God" about 20 times... Kelli finally said "YES"! Also, it turns out every single person at the table was in on it. They tricked Kelli into believing she was the one who organized the brunch, when the idea was intentionally planted in her head as a scheme to get everyone together to witness her engagement. Pure genius!
