Why Bar Harbor, Maine?

The Short Answer: it's where Rachel and Stew fell in love <3

The Long Answer... Flash back four years. Rachel and Stew were living in Chicago, just a few months into dating. They were out at Demera — Rachel's favorite Ethiopian restaurant. Both in between jobs, and craving an adventure. Stew spontaneously asked Rachel a question that in hindsight, changed everything, "If you could go literally anywhere, where would you want to go?" Rachel didn't have to think twice. She'd been OBSESSED with Noah Kahan's song "Maine" and had been doomscrolling Maine travel videos on TikTok for weeks. Her answer was decisive, "Bar Harbor, Maine." They booked their flights before the check arrived. They nearly missed their connection in Boston, because they "lingered" after a few too many free cocktails at the Delta Sky Lounge — but they made it. They were aboard a small Cessna, noses to the windows, gazing out at the beautifully fragmented coast of Maine. A sight you soon won't forget. The trip was memorable for them to say the least. Their first time trying fresh oysters and authentic New England Clam Chowder. A frigid, but stunning sunrise over Cadillac Mountain (the earliest in the U.S.). Food comas after eating way too many blueberry pancakes. Hiking up the infamous Beehive Trail in Acadia and stubbornly making up their own trail when they got lost. Getting upgraded to the honeymoon suite at their charming boutique hotel. Which was a *little* too on the nose lol. You see, this trip "upgraded" Stew and Rachel's view of their relationship from a casual couple to a serious partnership that was meant to last. Bar Harbor was an opportunity for them to get to know the stripped back, raw, and authentic versions of themselves. So when the time came to choose where to begin their marriage, the only place that felt "right" was Bar Harbor, Maine. Now, they realize Maine is not the most convenient wedding destination. But with family from different states and now living in a new city - choosing a wedding location that was "convenient" proved to be quite the... pickle. For those unable to attend, we completely understand - but for those that are willing to pack their bags, we promise you won't regret it. It's truly a one-of-a-kind, beautiful location that has so much to offer, and Rachel and Stew look forward to celebrating with any and all that can attend.
