Travel Note
We can’t wait to welcome you to Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca! All guests will fly into Puerto Escondido International Airport (PXM) — a small, simple airport just 10–15 minutes from town. Because PXM is a regional airport, most flights from the U.S. will connect through Mexico City, Houston or Dallas. 🛫 How to Get There Most travelers will book a route like: Your Departure City → Mexico City → Puerto Escondido (PXM) Your Departure City → Houston → Puerto Escondido (PXM) Your Departure City → Dallas → Puerto Escondido (PXM) If you can avoid flying through Mexico City, unless you want to spend time there, we recommend it :)
Flight
It’s often cheaper and makes most sense for scheduling to book two separate tickets: A round-trip flight from your home city → Mexico City (MEX) or (NLU) A separate round-trip from Mexico City (MEX) or (NLU) → Puerto Escondido (PXM) This can lower your total travel cost — just be sure to plan a longer layover since you’ll need to re-check your bags. Please also check to make sure that your connecting flights are from the correct airport. ⏱️ Layover in Mexico City (Important!) Mexico City’s airports are large, busy, and can be confusing, especially when connecting from an international arrival to a domestic flight. You’ll likely pass through several checkpoints and may need to switch terminals. We also love Mexico City! We love to spend a couple of nights on our way to or from Puerto Escondido in Mexico City. Tips to make it smooth: Follow signs closely, especially for Immigration, Customs (Aduana), Baggage Claim, and Domestic Connections. You must clear immigration and customs before your domestic flight. Plan at least a 2.5–3 hour layover, and more time if you booked separate tickets. Prepare in advance: Check your terminal, download the airport map and keep boarding passes/screenshots ready. Airport staff are used to helping travelers — don’t hesitate to ask if you get turned around just be aware that some will expect a small tip for their time. No matter what anybody says the Aero Train between T1 and T2 works and is the only way to transfer terminals! With enough time and a little prep, your connection will be totally manageable.

House Or Rental
There are plenty of options on Airbnb for nice, cheap accomodations in Puerto Escondido. We recommend staying in either La Punta for a vibrant, beachfront neighborhood or Rinconada for a quieter experience. There are plenty of options in Zicatela as well, but note that this area is where most of the late night bars stay open so it may be louder.
