On Hannah’s first trip to Princeton, it was very important to Matt for her to try all three rival ice cream shops: The Bent Spoon, Thomas Sweet, and Halo Pub. Their first stop was Bent Spoon. Hannah can still taste that chocolate five years later…. NJ.com recently ranked the Bent Spoon the best ice cream in New Jersey, but Matt is still partial to Halo Pub...
Every holiday season growing up, Matt and his friend Kevin would frequent Halo Pub before a stroll through campus. Over the last few years, Matt and Kevin have welcomed Hannah into this tradition. Whether a frigid, snowy day, or a hot summer evening - Halo Pub always hits the spot.
Matt and Hannah may have gotten into an altercation with a 15 year old at this fine establishment - but it hasn’t stopped them from loving the ice cream. Always a great choice!
A wonderful breakfast spot that Matt and Hannah love to enjoy after a long run on the canal path
Our favorite spot for a coffee and fresh pastry. There’s a location on Witherspoon where you can always find college kids studying and a location on Nassau with excellent outdoor seating. You can’t go wrong with either!
Matt spent many high school weekends browsing the stacks at Princeton Record Exchange, looking for gems of 60's and 70's rock. PREX offers a great selection, low prices, and a calm atmosphere.
Whenever Hannah is in Princeton, she always leaves time for a quick stop into Greene Street for some thrifted gems.
Hannah and Matt's favorite New Jersey running and biking trail! The train runs along the south side of Lake Carnegie about 3/4 of a mile south of downtown Princeton, with access along Washington Road and Alexander Street.
The Institute Woods are a large network of walking paths next to the Institute for Advanced Study, about a mile southeast of downtown Princeton. Albert Einstein used to regularly walk through the Institute Woods, and the scenes in Oppenheimer featuring Einstein were filmed on-site. Hannah and Matt have likewise enjoyed thoughtful walks through the quiet of the woods.
The state park, bordering the Institute Woods, preserve part of the battlefield of the Battle of Princeton, where the Continental Army won a decisive victory over the British Army in early January 1777.
Called the Westminster Abby of the United States, the Princeton Cemetery contains the graves of several notable Americans including Aaron Burr and Grover Cleveland.
While Hannah and Matt’s law school alma mater is Princeton’s arch rival (Go Quakers!), they can’t help but admit that Princeton University is a wonderful campus to stroll through with a coffee in hand on a sunny Saturday. There are plenty of nooks to sit on the grass and enjoy a good book or just find a bench and people watch.
