Walking in Love, Joy, Blessings and Favor, Hank & Nicole
At Pub 13 on Washington St., Ypsilanti, MI Nicole came in to get food after being in Cosmetology class from 5:00-10:00 PM. Hank was already there watching the Detroit Red Wings in a championship game and sipping on a "a cold one". Hank went up to sing; it was karaoke night. He belted out Marvin Gaye's "Ain't that Peculiar" and immediately sparked Nicole's attention. She remembers thinking, "Who is this guy in here singing like that? He can flat out sing and sounds good". After Hank finished the song, Nicole yelled... "Somebody give that man a record deal!" It made Hank laugh. Nicole recalls Hank looking at her three times and Hank says, "Well, she must have been looking back at me to notice that I was looking at her." Hank later approached Nicole and asked her if he could buy her a drink. She said, "I already have one." He replied, "Can I buy you another one of what you're drinking, and what are you drinking by the way?" She replied, "Lemonade". "Is that it?" he replied. "Yeah" she said. He then asked if the seat next to her was taken and if he could sit. She obliged and said, "Yeah, I guess". She was tired and didn't really want to be bothered while thinking..."What do you want?" Hank asked her what song she was singing and she said..."I'm not singing in a bar." He said, "Why not?" She replied, "Because ain't nobody gonna tell Pastor Sheard I was singing in a bar!" So she didn't sing in the bar....well, not that night. Three hours later...at 2:00 am, they were still talking. Hank offered to walk Nicole home and she flat out refused his gentleman gesture three times before she digressed and agreed. The next day they spoke on the phone for 45 minutes during her bus ride to class, and then again after her class. Two days after, he came to the bus stop at 11:00 pm to walk her home. They went to Sidetracks to have a late dinner. They have been together since the first day they met. Their love story is still being written. You will see the beginning of a new chapter unfold when you attend their Marriage Covenant Ceremony.
Anyone who is close to Hank and Nicole know that they both were previously married. Hank and Nicole both publicly proclaimed that they would never marry again and thus pronounced a stronghold over their lives that took deliverance and healing from Holy Spirit to break. Hank found Nicole: the two of them let love come, embraced it and now want to marry. This is the God ordained purpose for their lives. "There is no fear in LOVE; but perfect love casteth out fear". - 1 John 4:18 "We love because He first LOVED us". - 1 John 4:19

I was unmarried and living my life. I said that I would never marry again and intentionally walked in that proclamation. My heart was closed to the possibility of being with anyone and didn't want to be. Until the day that I met Hank and my whole world ceased to exist as I had known it. I am happier than I have ever been. I've never had such a profound connection in any relationship prior to this man. Hank is a very special person. He is my Best Friend, Number 1 Encourager and a large portion of my support system. I feel deeply loved, respected and adored by him. I genuinely like him and thoroughly enjoy his company. Being around Hank fills me up, and my ideal day involves lots of conversation with him! I can pretty much share an opinion on anything, and he can too. I love that we both have the gift of gab. We really have love; and love is an incredible thing. Jackie Wilson sang..."To be loved, to be loved, oooh what a feeling to be loved." It's truly a wonderful blessing and it feels amazing!" It's been a long time coming and I'm excited to become Mrs. Henry G. Davis Jr. I am looking forward to many more years with the love of my life!
Near or around the holidays in December 2008, I remember being in my home working out. After I completed my workout, I had a moment where I took a brief retrospective of my life at the time. I lost my father a year earlier and moved into a new place to be closer to family. I was single and past relationships left me feeling frustrated and bitter. I didn’t desire to be alone but was not willing to attempt another try at love. I prayed that night after my workout. I said to God, “Lord, please send someone in my life that first brings me closer to You; and second, helps and encourages me to be a better person, according to Your Will.” When I first met Nicole in May, 2009, our first conversation included talk about Jesus. We’ve been talking ever since. God truly answered my prayers on that day in 2008. He blessed my life with someone who loves me for me; someone who challenges, encourages and cheers me on to be a better version of myself according to God’s purpose. I thank God daily for Nicole.
