Flight
Book all flights in/out of the St. Thomas Airport (STT) Once you land, you may be greeted with a shot of local Cruzan Rum. Come thirsty!
Travel Note
A passport is NOT required to visit any of the US Virgin Islands (St. Thomas, St. John, or St. Croix), so a US drivers license will be just fine getting to and from the island. That being said, if you want to extend your trip and you decide you want to venture over to the BVIs, a passport is required there.
House Or Rental
Room blocks are not available on the island, but there are so many great options for Airbnb and VRBO rentals. We recommend the Elysian resort area for anyone that would like to stay near the bride and groom. This area is less than a 5 minute shuttle to Sapphire Beach where the ceremony and reception will be taking place. 1-4 Bedroom condos are available ranging from $300 -$600 a night in this area. The Airbnbs on this list include access to the private beach and pool at the Elysian, and many include stunning ocean views! **Please note: this is a general list, it is not filtered for specific dates or availability. Depending on your travel dates, other condos may be available. We encourage you to do your own search with your specific travel dates both through Airbnb and VRBO. This list is simply a reference to see what may be available in the area.
House Or Rental
Sapphire Beach is another great accommodation option. Sapphire beach is the location of the ceremony and reception, and is less than 5 minutes from where the bride and groom will be staying. 1-2 Bedroom condos are available ranging from $150 -$400 a night in this area. The Airbnb's on this list include access to Sapphire Beach, the resort pools, and stunning ocean views! **Please note: this is a general list, it is not filtered for specific dates or availability. Depending on your travel dates, other condos may be available. We encourage you to do your own search with your specific travel dates through both Airbnb and VRBO. This list is simply a reference to see what may be available in the area.
Hotel
The Elysian Beach resort does have a formal hotel called the Club Wyndham Beach resort. This is the same area that the bride and groom will be staying. Rooms are limited, but will become more available closer to the date. Feel free to call the resort directly if you would like. AirBnbs within the resort will most likely have more options and availability.
Hotel
The Ritz Carlton is conveniently located in the area of Red Hook-- a 5 min drive from the ceremony location, and a 2 minute golf cart ride to where the bride and groom will be staying. We recommend this option for those who prefer the amenities of a luxury hotel.
Travel Note
This map shows the "East End" area of St. Thomas. This is where we will be spending most of our time, and can be a point of reference for booking accommodations.
Rental Car
You do NOT need to rent a car if you are planning to stay near/around the resorts for most of your trip. In this case, we recommend using cab services due to the crazy island roads. That being said if you are the explorer type and want to see more of the island, we recommend booking a rental car through Budget, Hertz, or Avis which all have locations at the airport making it easy to grab your car and go once you arrive. Tip** Similar to England, cars drive on the left side of the road.
Travel Note
(CASH ONLY) There are plenty of taxi services available at the airport that will take you to your accommodations. There will be attendants outside of the airport who will direct you to a taxi. You can jump in any of the taxis lined up outside! The taxi service from the airport to Redhook can range from $15-20 a person. When getting around Red Hook, taxis request a flat rate of $5-6 a person. The island offers a $1 shuttle that loops the island and stops outside most resorts every 30 min. This can be a unique way to see a lot of the island but can be a slower means of transportation. Taxi service recommendations: St. Thomas Taxi: 340-774-7457 East End Taxi: 340-775-6974
Travel Note
Please be sure to have cash on you for taxis. Most stores and restaurants will take credit card, but cash is needed for transportation and tipping.
