No, if you are a citizen of the United States of America you do not need a passport to travel to the US Virgin Islands.
Ask yourself, are you an explorer or beach bum? If you're an explorer, we recommend car rental, if you're a beach bum, we recommend using the shuttle and taxi services. There are many ways to get around the island. 1. There is a $1 shuttle that runs the loop of St. Thomas and stops at every beach along the way. 2. Taxis are frequent and you can catch them easily on the main roads -- they typically charge $5 per person and run all day and late into the night. (CASH ONLY) If you choose to rent a car for your trip, we recommend booking a rental car through Budget, Hertz, or Avis which all have locations at the airport making it easy to grab your car and go once you arrive. Tip** Similar to England, cars drive on the left side of the road.
All of the US islands take the US dollar. You will NOT need to exchange any of your money unless visiting one of the British islands and most places accept all major credit cards. Please make sure to bring cash for taxi services.

There are several grocery stores in the Red Hook area but we recommend going to The Food Center or Moe's Fresh Market. Because everything is imported, expect a 10-20% increase on goods.
The island is casual. You're more likely to stand out if you're dressed up. No matter where you are, there will be people in swimsuits, sweatpants, and t-shirts. Get with the island vibe and keep it casual. Our wedding will be beach casual. Look nice and be comfortable. Some ideas: Ladies-- sundresses, rompers, maxi dresses, sandals. Gentleman-- shorts, khakis, linen pants/shirts, Hawaiian shirts, sandals, boat shoes.
If you are extending your trip, we highly recommend visiting St. John. You can catch a 20 min ferry to Cruz Bay, the only town on St.John, at the Urmar Victor Fredricks Marine Terminal in Red Hook. There are ferries to and from St. John every hour until 11 PM. If you don't make the last ferry out, be prepared to stay the night! The cost round trip is $14 per person.
