We were in high school. We met online, on Tagged. (Did that take you back?) We messaged back and forth a few times before switching over to video chat. Then, of course it evolved into us meeting in-person. Did our parents know at the time? Mine, yes. His, not so much. We created this elaborate story to tell his mom and everything. She knows the truth and it's funny now but he just KNEW his mom was not going to accept him talking to and meeting a complete stranger off the internet. By the second date, we had made it official. Oh, and after his mom was told the truth--that we indeed did NOT know each other on our first date and that we met on the internet--she said she would have been totally fine with it lol.
Before the world went to hell in a handbasket, he proposed intimately. It was a Tuesday. I was coming home from working late. He had made it home before me. Unbeknownst to me, he had spent that time preparing to propose. He ran me a bath, had MOET on ice and flowers in a vase for me. As I walk into our bathroom, he was on one knee and gave me a paper asking 'Will you marry me?' There were two checkboxes. One checkbox for yes and one checkbox for no. It was the cutest setup. After giggling so much, I SAID YES! It has been a long time coming with a total shutdown, a panoramic and COVID-19 mandates. Come hell or high water, this wedding is happening. We're finally ready (and excited) to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you!
