Travel Recommendation

The welcome party and wedding will be held at the same villa which is in a beautiful town outside of Florence and Pisa. The most convenient way to reach this area of Italy is by flying into a major city such as Pisa, Florence, Rome, Milan and either renting a car or taking a train to Certaldo, the nearest accessible train station, located just about 15 minutes from the villa. If you don't mind taking your time to get there or you just want to get out there early to explore another area, we definitely recommend keeping an eye out for deals on flights to other major cities in Italy or France because taking a shorter flight or a train ride is more affordable once you get there.

Please make sure to have all your travel documents in order! Passports are essential for international travel. We recommend checking that your passport is current and if you don't have one yet, apply as soon as possible, as it can be a lengthy process. Additionally, this may not be needed but want to put it on your radar - the EU has been talking about implementing the European Travel Information and Authorization System, as an electronic travel authorization required for U.S. citizens visiting the EU region. While the exact launch date has not yet been confirmed, it is anticipated to be in effect around September of 2026. The application process is expected to be straightforward, with approval given immediately or within a few days. Flight Recommendations

Flying internationally can be expensive, so we want to share some tips based on research as you start looking into flights. There are several cities that you can fly into based on your needs and wants. We have seen that Galileo Galilei Airport / Pisa International Airport (PSA) in Pisa or Leonardo da Vinci International Airport (FCO) in Rome can both be a more cost effective option. Flying into Florence is a great option as well but may be a bit pricier. To find the best flight deals, we recommend using Google Flights or Skyscanner, which allows you to compare prices across different airlines and dates. You can even set price alerts on these sources. As this is an international trip, be sure to allow plenty of time if you have a U.S. layover before departure—at least two hours to transfer, clear security, and go through customs. A little extra planning will help make your journey smoother.

The train system is a great way to get around in Italy. Purchasing train tickets can be confusing. We recommend looking at Trainline or the english version of ItaliaRail.

Accommodation Recommendations

You are more than welcome to research Airbnb, VRBO, etc. for villas or hotels near La Torre (there are plenty), but we wanted to also give you a handful of options that have come recommended to us. If you are joining us for the welcome party and the wedding, we suggest arriving to the area on Saturday and plan to stay through Tuesday. Please keep in mind the time change for all your travel as Tuscany is 6 hours ahead of Georgia.
