We recommend a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway! The views are best in October when the leaves start turning, but you'll still get incredible views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. There are plenty of hiking trails and overlooks to stop and enjoy along the way. The Parkway’s Deep Gap entrance, at milepost 276.4, is about 42 miles west of Interstate 77 (26 miles from Wilkesboro) and about 10 miles east of Boone. On the Parkway, this entrance is 15.4 miles north of Blowing Rock and the US 321/221 exit at Blowing Rock.
There is a naturally occurring gravitational anomaly on the property that you will have to see to believe. Visitors are invited to enjoy a guided tour where the history of the property, the discovery of the anomaly, and theories about why this happens are shared. The "Mystery House" is where gravity doesn't quite work the way it should. The "Hall of Mystery" gives children the opportunity to try hands-on puzzles and experiments. Mystery Hill's 1903 Dougherty House Museum is a noteworthy, historic 1898 home featuring authentic insight into 19th-century life in the mountains. There's Tomahawk Hill, where you can try your hand at throwing tomahawks and using a bow and arrow, and a huge collection of Native American Artifacts to see, too. Pose for an old-time photo, find snacks at Front Porch Eats, try your luck at the Bull Riding Challenge, do some gem mining at Prospector Hill, and more, all in one place with something fun for everyone.
Wild West family theme park featuring a three-mile, steam-powered train ride through the North Carolina mountains. Shopping, live entertainment, amusement rides, and a petting zoo. Ghost Train Halloween Festival runs on weekend evenings in October.

A bar and sandwich shop! Lily's is not the place for Racism, Sexism, Homophobia, Transphobia, Ableism, or hate of any kind, so we like to support this establishment. At night, it becomes more of a bar with the college right across the street.
