Yosemite National Park is a must see!! Yosemite has multiple entrances, but the closest entrance to Bridgeport is the Tioga Pass entrance which is about a forty five minute drive from the venue. If you plan to visit Yosemite, Yosemite Valley is the heart of the park where you can see all of the fan favorite landmarks like El Capitan, Half Dome, Yosemite Falls, and Bridalveil Falls. Glacier Point is possibly the best viewpoint as it offers a panoramic view of Yosemite Valley and Half Dome! MAKE SURE you check the road conditions of Tioga Pass before taking this route to Yosemite. This entrance closes for the winter season and always reopens the last week of May/first week of June, so make sure the entrance has opened before heading that way. The website to check the road conditions and view alternative entrances is linked below. Check online to see if a park reservation is required for the day you plan to visit. Some 'high traffic days' may require online park reservation.
A true gem of the Bridgeport area is nature's natural hot tub, the Buckeye Hot Springs. These hot springs are real steaming springs you can actually swim in! To find the secret hot springs, follow Twin Lakes Rd down ten miles until you reach Buckeye Rd. Turn left onto Buckeye Rd, and follow it for about one and a half miles.
Only about 10 minutes from the venue are the beautiful Twin Lakes; Upper and Lower Twin Lakes! Enjoy the gorgeous views, find the rope swing at Upper Twin Lakes, or head over to Twin Lakes Resort to rent a paddle board, kayak, or boat to take out onto Lower Twin Lakes. From Highway 395, take Twin Lakes Rd for 10 miles to reach the start of the Twin Lakes Basin. Keep driving down to the end of Twin Lakes Rd to reach Twin Lakes Resort.
There are so many great hikes in the Bridgeport area! Enjoy God's beautiful creation around you! Attached is a link to some of the hiking trails in the area. Hailey knows of one more trail that's not listed on the website attached, and it is her favorite. This favorite is the Barney Lake Trail!
Bridgeport has some of the best stream fishing for rainbow and brown trout! Fishing is the biggest tradition of the annual Jordan Bridgeport trip. Some of the best spots can be found at Paha Campground and Robinson Creek. If you're looking for a guided fishing adventure, check out Ken Hoffman's Guide Service. If you're looking to fish solo but were not able to pack your gear, rentals may be available at Mono Village or Twin Lakes Resort.
If you're looking to do a little road trip while you're exploring around the area, South Lake Tahoe is about an hour and forty five minutes from the venue. We would recommend Zephyr Cove if you're looking for beach access to South Lake Tahoe! For another fun Tahoe outing, we recommend visiting Heavenly Village, a cute ski village area where there is a gondola with beautiful mountain views as well as an outdoor pavilion area with great dining and fun local shops.
