Maid of Honor
We were set up as random freshman year roommates by our siblings who were studying abroad together at the time. One year of obligated roommate-ship turned into 6 years by choice. We now live a mile apart from each other in Columbus and aren't sure we could ever manage more than that
Bridesmaid
My cousin, and first friend. We share a love of John Mayer, murder podcasts, and drinking on Grand Lake. Julie was the only other person present at our engagement, and was supposed to be meeting us at the beach so she could "take a picture for us to send a Christmas card this year". She is a sneaky one!
Bridesmaid
Kelly and I met within my very first moments at Miami. She offered to help me unpack my clothes and we quickly realized how much we had in common, both fashion and otherwise. Our friendship grew from there, and we went on to make some of the memories that will always be my favorite. Kelly lives in Pittsburgh now, and we love to visit each other's respective cities and have our bodies give us the friendly reminder that we are no longer in college.
Bridesmaid
Sarah was my college housemate, and happened to be like a sister to Charlie growing up. While I got a future husband as a result of my friendship with Sarah, I also got the upgrade her to the "like a sister" status as my relationship with Charlie progressed. It has been the perfect win-win situation. Sarah lives in Columbus and we love to break up our weeks and weekends with dinners and in-home wine tastings.
Bridesmaid
Ally and I met freshman year at Miami since we both lived on western campus. We joined Kappa together and would make the treacherous walk back to western from events around campus. We went on to live together junior and senior year, and then just down the street in both Cincinnati and Chicago. Since we both had non-traditional work schedules, we would spend our days off together getting to enjoy the cities while everyone else was at work.
Bridesmaid
Anna and I also lived together junior and senior year at Miami. Even more notably, we decided to join a group of 20 strangers and travel around Europe for 8 weeks one summer. Our friendship blossomed, and so did our love of mustard and other condiments. I was with Anna when I first admitted that I may like Charlie. She approved wholeheartedly, and encouraged me to "see where things went". Charlie and I are two of Anna's biggest fans, and love the time we get to spend with her.
Bridesmaid
We met through Kappa and Kelly decided to take a real leap of faith when she agreed to be my roommate in our first post-grad home in Cincinnati. We had the best year adjusting to life as adults. I hated living without Kelly so much that I followed her to Chicago where we had even more fun during my brief stint as a city girl. We now get our fix of each other through phone calls and weekend visits, which is no comparison to life under the same roof.
Bridesmaid
Colleen decided to join the madness and move into Bahama Mamas senior year. We both developed a love for running after college and have traveled to Disney twice to run the princess half marathon. Colleen lives in Chicago and spending time together was one of the highlights of my time there.
Best Man
Duke is my brother. We've been roommates for a collective 24 years, coworkers for 7, a year apart in the same school for 16. and dog co-parents for 3. In spite of all that, we still know how to make each other laugh like no one else can. Duke owns a restaurant in Columbus, and we're a dynamite team in the kitchen. Loss and challenges have only brought us closer together, and I think that's one of the best things that can be said for any relationship.
Groomsman
Since the third grade, I've been lucky to have Peter as my brother from another mother. We've shared years of school buses, baseball, summer camp, wrestling, a hundred-dozen sleepovers, campouts, sorry attempts at skateboarding, service projects, doubles tennis, ski trips, a Blink 182 cover band, and many other things. Peter recently had the audacity to move away from me to Bend, Oregon, where he lives with his wife Jen and son Mac.
Groomsman
Kyle is Hailey's older brother and day-one best pal. Though we didn't know one another at the time, Kyle and I went through Miami University one year apart, and we knew a lot the same people. In fact, before we meet, Kyle had big plans to play intimidation games with the new guy, but our introduction happened to take place in front of some mutual friends, and Kyle was forced to like me ahead of schedule.
Groomsman
Connor is Hailey's younger brother by four years, and in spite of that, I look up to him. Like Kyle, he's bright, successful, and fantastic at golf and getting dressed. I look forward to this young man's mentorship for years to come.
Groomsman
Tom is my cousin, the closest in age, geography, and sensibility. Our best times have been spent in the great outdoors - fishing, hunting, getting chased up a creek by a moose, catching a fox in a box with nacho cheese for bait, and tricking a young me into using the worst possible plants for toilet paper. We both have fantastic taste in movies and music, and we can carry on entire conversation about most subjects using only quotes from Grumpy Old Men, Slapshot, and Back to the Future.
Groomsman
Bryan and I met freshman year of high school and have been pals since. Our friendship may come as a surprise to people who know us individually - because Bryan is such an orderly, well-mannered, likable person, and I'm me - but we've pulled through nonetheless.
Groomsman
Peter K. is a long-time neighbor and friend, and he and his dad were an outstanding addition to our annual Canadian fishing trip for a few years. Like Duke, Peter attended the same series of schools, two years my junior. The age gap has Peter fooled into thinking I'm cooler than I am, so we've stayed friends.
Groomsman
The Korns and the Holmans have been close for decades, and Mike has been like a brother to Hailey. I've enjoyed getting to know him over the last 5 years; few can match his ability to find and enjoy a top-notch meal or cocktail, and there are few qualities I'd rather have in a friend. Mike has also been a fantastic stand-in for activities I want nothing to do with (Turkey Trots, Taylor Swift live, etc).
