Key West, Miami, or Fort Lauderdale Airports

Key West Airport is the closest airport (go figure). It’s a quick 4-mile Uber, etc. ride. United recently started direct flights from Newark. There are very few direct flights and they are almost filled up – if not already full. The direct flights tend to be quite expensive. You can also fly to Key West Airport by connecting though another city. There is currently a fair amount of availability with it and prices are moderate-ish. Miami/Fort Lauderdale Airports: There are a plethora of well-priced flights direct to both of these airports. They are approximately 4 hours from Key West. While it is a long drive, it’s also a very scenic one - with water on both sides of the highway for much of the drive. So, roll down those windows and let that sweet ocean air guide you down to land of Key Lime Pie and Tommy Bahama Shirts.

Margaritaville Key West Resort & Marina

Margaritaville has blocked a bunch of discounted rooms for us at the hotel. Sorry it is so pricey! There is no additional charge for resort fees, etc. There are also discounts on other types of rooms by clicking on the room-type tabs. Please just let us know if you have any problems getting the discount. It is are also offering a 15% discount at the Sheraton (same hotel family) which is about a 15-min drive from Margaritaville. Please call Shannon for the discount. There are obviously lots of other great hotels nearby that you can also stay at, many within walking distance.

Share a car from MIA or FLA

We've created a Google Doc for guests that are looking to share a ride to or from Miami or Fort Lauderdale airport. Please click on link below to add your name, travel and contact info, if you are interested in sharing a rental car or if you have already set up a ride and are open to some company. You can also contact David or Monica directly to help coordinate. Once down in Key West, there is no need for a car. If you drove down, the hotel charges to park there. There are some spots not too far away that can park for free but it is a bit of a pain.

Greyhound or Keys Airport Shuttle

The Greyhound Keys Shuttle (T: 800.231.2222) has daily scheduled departures from Miami Airport to near the Key West Airport (4 miles from Margaritaville). It is approximately $32/person each way. Keys Airport Shuttle (T: 888.765.9997) provides daily door to door shuttle service to and from Miami & Ft Lauderdale airports and Key West. It is $90/person per way. They are currently running a promo for a 2nd guest to ride for $10 ($100/way for 2 people).
