Flight

José María Córdova International Airport (MDE)

We highly recommend flying into & out of MDE Airport. There are several nonstop flight options: American Airlines and Avianca fly out of MIA (Miami International Airport) JetBlue and Spirit fly out of FLL (Fort Lauderdale International Airport)

Rental Car

Transportation to & from MDE Airport

The drive from MDE Airport to our recommended hotels is approximately 35 minutes. Transportation options include: AIRPORT TRANSPORTATION: Visit the MDE Airport website (linked below) for information regarding car rentals, private transfers, and taxis. There is also a taxi lane at the exit of the airport, and the set fares are displayed on signs. UBER: Order or schedule Ubers as usual. The good news is that Ubers are significantly less expensive in Colombia! HOTEL SHUTTLE SERVICE: Call your hotel in advance to arrange complimentary transportation services.

Travel Note

Passport & Required Travel Documents

This is a friendly reminder to CHECK YOUR PASSPORT'S EXPIRATION DATE! You cannot travel internationally if your passport is expired or going to expire WITHIN 6 MONTHS of your return date. To apply for or renew your U.S. Passport, please visit: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/how-apply.html In order to both enter and leave Colombia, you must complete the "CHECK-MIG" form. Please fill out this form 72 hours before your flight (or up to 1 hour before your flight). Your airline will ask you for it as well. To complete the form, please click on "View" below or visit https://apps.migracioncolombia.gov.co/pre-registro/en

Currency

The currency used in Colombia is COP (Colombian Pesos). While most places do accept credit cards and/or US dollars, I highly suggest converting some US dollars to COP to pay for low ticket items and transportation. The best place to do so is probably the airport. To calculate an exact conversion, just Google "COP to USD conversion" or vise versa. However, as a quick conversion, you can divide by 4000. For example, if something is listed as 100.000 COP, you would do: 100,000/4000 = $25. Therefore, 100.000 COP is equal to approximately $25 USD. I hope this helps!
