Guatapé

Guatapé

Guatapé, Antioquia, Colombia

Guatapé is a colorful, lakeside town famous for its vibrant streets & the iconic "El Peñol" Rock. The town is approximately 1.5 hours away from Medellín via car. If you choose to visit Guatapé, here are some of our recommendations: - Ascend the 742 steps leading to the summit of "El Peñol" Rock - Explore the colorful streets of Guatapé & the famous Guatapé Zocalos - Take a boat tour or helicopter tour - Stay overnight and go "glamping" on the beautiful lake. Our favorite "hotel" for this was "BOSKO Habitat Nativo" - There are several tours that leave from Medellín — check sites like Viator for options! https://www.viator.com/tours/Medellin/Day-Trip-To-Guatape-Boat-Ride-and-Lunch-Included/d4563-42677P1

Comuna 13

Comuna 13

Carrera 110, Medellín, Antioquia, Colombia

Comuna 13, once known as one of Medellín's most dangerous neighborhoods, has transformed into a vibrant symbol of resilience and creativity. This mountain-side community is now a must-see for its stunning street art, colorful murals, and lively atmosphere. The graffiti here tells of the community's history, struggles, and hopes for the future. Beyond the art, the area is famous for its local musicians & dancers who perform in the streets as you walk the neighborhood. There are also unique dining experiences at restaurants offering comedic rapping shows, where local artists blend humor and music to entertain guests. If you prefer a guided tour, there are TONS of options on Viator, TripAdvisor, etc.

Provenza

Provenza

8a109 Carrera 35, Medellín, Antioquia, Colombia

Provenza is one of Medellín's most fashionable and lively districts, perfect for those looking to experience the city's upscale vibe. The Click Clack Hotel is located here, and Blues Suites Medellín is just a 5-minute drive away! Known for its tree-lined streets, Provenza offers a blend of trendy restaurants, chic cafes, and vibrant nightlife, making it a hotspot for both locals and visitors. The area comes alive at night with a mix of sophisticated bars, live music venues, and stylish clubs. By day, you can explore the boutique shops, enjoy gourmet coffee, or simply relax in one of the many lush green spaces. Also, don't forget to take a photo by the "I <3 Medellín" sign!

Coffee Tours

Coffee Tours

Visit local farms nestled in the nearby mountains where you can learn about the art of coffee-making. You'll walk through lush coffee plantations, see the meticulous process of harvesting and roasting, and enjoy fresh, aromatic cups of coffee right at the source. A lot of tours also offer horseback riding through the mountains. This is a really fun and unique experience where you get to see what goes into making some of the best coffee in the world! See Viator, TripAdvisor, GetYourGuide, etc. for different tour options. The specific tour that Juan & I went on was at D'Arrieros Coffee Farm, which can be found here: http://www.dearrieros.com/#tours
