By God working his magic both Katie and Justin ended up living in the same apartment complex in Houston. While living in the same complex both their current roommates met each other and started to hangout. Through those two mutual friends they finally met on Justin’s 25th birthday. Out with the guys celebrating, Katie had to be drug out of the house by her roommate to go to a nearby bar, Dogwood, in the rain to celebrate this stranger’s birthday. Who would have thought or known that three years and a few months later Katie would again find her self in the rain, with the same man, getting engaged.

Katie was planning to surprise Rachel, her lifelong best friend, for her gender reveal that weekend in Louisiana. In Katie's mind, Rachel had no idea she was going to be in town and she made what she thought was a big master plan with Rachel’s husband to surprise her the day before the reveal while they were out getting lunch. All in the mean time, with the help from Rachel and their parents, Justin was working on a master plan of his own. After the "surprise" and eating the four of them decide to go outside to take pictures on the dock by the water. As they walked outside it started to rain but they continued on with the pictures anyways. After pictures Rachel handed Katie a letter saying it was from the baby-to-be and implying it was an early gender reveal. While reading the letter Katie soon realized that this letter was not from the baby-to-be, but it was from Justin. And at that moment, in the rain, on a dock in Katie’s hometown of Slidell, Justin got down on one knee with perfect form and said, "Kathryn Michele, will you marry me?". After Katie said yes, their parents who were hiding on a nearby boat watching it all jumped, yelled, and cheered in excitement for the final surprise.
