Things To Do

One of the best parts about a wedding at Stout’s Island Lodge is that guests can make the day feel like a mini Northwoods vacation before getting dressed.

On Island Activities

This is perfect for guests who want a true “summer camp for adults” experience. Grab a leisurely breakfast and coffee overlooking the lake. Swim off the dock or relax on the floating raft. Take out the complimentary kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, or hydrobikes. Play croquet, bocce, cornhole, tennis, or giant lawn games. Walk the island trails or the meditation labyrinth. Read a book in an Adirondack chair with a cocktail before getting ready.

Town of Birchwood

Explore nearby Birchwood: If guests have a car and want to get off the island for a couple of hours: Grab breakfast at the The Birchwood Cafe. Walk around downtown Birchwood’s small shops. Take a photo with the town’s famous giant Bluegill statue. Stop for Wisconsin cheese, fudge, or local souvenirs. Have lunch or a Bloody Mary before heading back.

For adventurous guests

For adventurous guests: Rent a pontoon or fishing boat on the Red Cedar Chain of Lakes. Paddle one of the nearby canoe routes. Float the Namekagon River on an inner tube (if timing allows). Hike the nearby trails through the Northwoods. Golf at Tagalong Golf Resort overlooking the lake.

Easy half-day excursions

If guests arrive Friday and have most of Saturday free: Visit Hayward (about 30 minutes away) for shopping, coffee, candy stores, and breweries. Explore Spooner for antique shops and local museums. Drive scenic back roads through Wisconsin’s lake country.
