Schedule

Many of our best memories as a couple have taken place in the wilderness, and because of this we decided that we wanted our wedding to as well! The ceremony will take place at Mount Hayden Backcountry Lodge (MHBL) on Saturday, July 16th, but the twist is we would like everyone to join us in backpacking to the lodge from a trailhead that will be less than 20 miles away. We'll leave the trailhead Wednesday morning and arrive at MHBL on Friday. There, we can shower and relax/party. The host of the lodge is also a chef who will fill our hungry bellies with scrumptious delights. The ceremony and reception will take place on Saturday and then we'll leave on Sunday.

Arrival

6:00 pm

Chase and Gretchen's Home
651 Trew Creek Drive, Durango, CO 81301

Plan to arrive in Durango by Tuesday evening (or earlier!). Mike and Linda are providing an amazing dinner, catered at Chase and Gretchen's house outside of Durango. We have limited sleeping areas indoors, but have plenty of flat spots for your tent. If you are flying in to the Durango Airport, please let us know what time and we will coordinate a pick-up for you! You do not need to rent a car.

Begin the Trek

8:00 am

Boots to the ground! We will leave Chase and Gretchen's early in the morning after breakfast and drive to our parking area that is 2 miles down the road from the lodge (2wd accessible). Here, you can leave anything you brought for the weekend that you don't need for the hike (clothes, make up, kegs, etc.) A shuttle will meet us there and drive us to the trailhead. We will have sandwiches packed for lunch and will start hiking by 12 noon.

Arrive at Mount Hayden Backcountry Lodge

4:00 pm

The lodge will have showers, food, and drinks ready for us! After we arrive from hiking, we will do a car shuttle to our cars which will be 2 miles down the road from theh lodge, where we can grab anything you did not bring on the hike and need for the weekend. This will also be an opportunity to pick up people who did not attend the hike but are joining us for the weekend. Note that the lodge does not have enough beds for everyone, so the camping will continue here. We will assign beds/camping once we have RSVP's but anyone over 40 years old has automatic rights to a bed :)

Wedding Day

4:00 pm

Attire is mountain kind-of-formal. Think sundresses, hawaiian shirts, & chacos. Remember, we are at altitude in the mountains where the weather can swing dramatically (snow is unlikely but not impossible). Layers are always a good idea.

Saturday morning we will have a huge brunch. Otherwise, there are no planned events for the morning and early afternoon. We can play games and explore the nearby creeks and waterfalls. The ceremony will be at 4pm (weather dependent) on a deck that is a short walk from the lodge. There will not be seating at the ceremony (we promise it will be short), but if you need a seat please let us know and we will make arrangements. Afterwards, we will have drinks and food back at the lodge. A local band is coming and we will dance into the night, until our feet officially fall off.
