Question

A note on language

Answer

Forrest is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns. While Greta (she/her) is thrilled to be a bride, Forrest doesn't really have a perfect term. They've found that most invented words used to create genderless analogs of gendered terms are, at best, middling, and, at worst, toe-curling. They haven't found a great alternative for bride or groom (Greta thinks "bloom" is cheesy and charming, Forrest has grudgingly admitted that it may be their best option), but there are plenty of great ways to refer to the pair of them! They're going to be spouses, a wedded couple, married! They are fiancés, partners, and super-duper-in-love. They're also charming, funny, and very good looking, but they'll understand if you don't feel comfortable showering them in all of that praise. Point being: Forrest and Greta appreciate your conscientiousness around language, and understand that it's tricky in such a gendered space (the wedding industry) to nail the mark. Please do your best to honor their pronouns and identity on such an important day.

Question

Can we bring our kids to your wedding?

Answer

Forrest and Greta are largely having a child-free wedding. Some invitations have been extended to children, as indicated on the invitations, but largely they figure that kids would rather be enjoying pizza & a movie than witnessing their nuptials. If you are in need of a sitter/child care for the evening, Forrest and Greta both work with hundreds of amazing young people they would be happy to connect you with.

Question

What's going on? I feel like you are having 100 weddings?

Answer

You're right! Forrest and Greta are finding lots of ways to celebrate with as many people as they can. On August 8th, Forrest and Greta will have a small, intimate wedding and reception at the Landscape Arboretum in Chaska, MN. They want to be as present as possible on the day of their wedding, and keeping the ceremony and reception small will allow them to stay in the moment. Later, once they've had a moment to soak in the joy of it all, they plan to host a larger party to which they can invite more people.
