Explore Venice

Explore Venice

If you're flying in or out of Venice and want to shake off your jet lag or hangover in the floating city, here’s how we did it. We started in Venice, but you can easily reverse the itinerary if you prefer to spend time there afterward: From Venice Airport, take the airport shuttle (~10 euros) or a water taxi (70+ euros) to your hotel. If you need a suggestion, we stayed at Garden Hotel Olimpia, just a 2-minute walk from where the shuttle drops you off. Spend a few days wandering the canals and enjoying the food. Be sure to stop for gelato at Gelateria Gallonetto, and don’t miss exploring St. Mark's Square. (Tip: To avoid the busiest times, visit the square outside of 10 AM to 3 PM.) Finally, taking a water taxi or gondola through the canals is a fantastic way to see the city! When you’re ready, rent your car in Venice instead of heading back to the airport. We used Sixt, located just a 2-minute walk from the hotel.
