Question

What airport should I fly into?

Answer

We recommend flying into Italy directly, as ongoing construction on the major bridge connecting Austria and Northern Italy may cause delays. Milan Malpensa (MXP) and Venice Marco Polo (VCE) are the largest international airports, offering the most flight options. Smaller airports like Bolzano, Verona, or Innsbruck (Austria) are closer to Merano but may require connecting flights. Taking a train from Venice or Milan is also a picturesque way to experience the Italian countryside. For detailed travel tips, visit our Travel page!

Question

How do I reserve my room at Castel Fragsburg?

Answer

We’ve reserved rooms at Castel Fragsburg for Friday and Saturday night, and we are thrilled to cover the cost of your stay as a token of our appreciation for joining us. Simply let us know your plans when you RSVP—there’s no payment or extra steps required. Once we have your details, we’ll handle everything to secure your room. If you have any special requests or preferences, feel free to include them with your RSVP, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

Question

When should I plan to arrive?

Answer

The main festivities will take place at Castel Fragsburg in Merano from May 23rd to May 25th. If you’re arriving earlier, we encourage you to explore Italy and make a trip out of it. Venice, Milan, or the Dolomites are wonderful pre-wedding destinations.

Question

Do I need to rent a car?

Answer

Renting a car offers the most flexibility, and free parking is available at the venue. However, the roads in Merano are narrow and historic, so smaller vehicles are recommended. Trains and shuttles are alternative options, but they may require extra planning and transfers. Note: Italians drive on the right side of the road

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

The most important thing is that you wear what makes you feel your best, but here is what we suggest: Welcome Dinner (Friday): Dressy Casual – For example, men can opt for button-down shirts with slacks. Women can go for something comfortable yet put-together, like a dress, jumpsuit, or a favorite stylish outfit. Wedding Day (Saturday): Formal – For example, men can go with a suit or tuxedo. Women might choose a floor-length gown or a chic cocktail dress. Note: There may be cobblestone walkways, so choose footwear wisely. Above all, we want you to feel comfortable and have a great time!

Question

Do I need a passport?

Answer

Yes! Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your travel dates to enter Italy. If you have a layover in the UK, you’ll need to apply for an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) before your trip. Be sure to check your passport's expiration date to avoid any last-minute surprises.

Question

Is there transportation to and from the hotel?

Answer

All events and accommodations will take place at Castel Fragsburg. You’ll need to arrange your transportation to the venue. Visit our Travel page for detailed options, including car rentals, trains, or airport shuttles.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Yes! The region is very kid-friendly, and we’re excited to welcome guests of all ages. If you’ll need a crib, please include your request when you RSVP.

Question

What type of weather is Merano in May?

Answer

Merano typically experiences mild spring weather. Average daytime temperatures range from 57°F to 72°F, while nighttime temperatures can drop to 40°Fs, so it's a good idea to bring a light jacket for the evenings.

Question

What languages are spoken in the region?

Answer

Merano is located in South Tyrol, a region where German, Italian, and Ladin are the primary languages. You’ll notice signs and menus in both German and Italian, and many locals speak both fluently. English is also widely understood, especially in hotels and tourist areas, so you’ll have no trouble communicating.

Question

What other places should we visit?

Answer

Merano is a beautiful destination with its Alpine and Mediterranean charm, historic spas, and scenic walks. Nearby Ortisei, nestled in the Dolomites, is perfect for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers. Consider visiting Venice, Verona, or Bolzano for additional Italian experiences.

Question

What is the Jubilee, and how might it affect us?

Answer

The Jubilee is a major year-long Catholic celebration attracting millions of pilgrims to Rome. While it won’t impact travel to Northern Italy, travelers heading to Rome should expect large crowds and plan accordingly.

Question

Is Boomer coming?

Answer

Boomer has declared that if he isn't flying the plane, he isn't coming. Unfortunately, there's no way he can rack up the required flight hours before May so he will be sitting this one out.

Question

Will Peter Greenberg dust off his Bat Mitzvah speech skills?

Answer

There is really only one way to find out....
