It all began one day in January 2012 on a field trip to Cambridge while studying abroad in London. Mike sat down in a rowboat for a tour along the River Cam and sitting across from him was a striking blonde girl. They didn’t speak that day, but as luck would have it, a few days later while watching the NE Patriots in the super bowl, Mike struck up a friendship with Emily, a NY Giants fan in the same program. As it turned out, Emily was the roommate and best friend of the blonde girl from the boat. Regardless of the outcome of the game, their friendship persevered and they began making plans for a night out on the town. Unaware of their previous encounter, Liz wanted to make an impression on Mike and asked him to take whiskey shots with her. Slightly taken aback by a girl ordering whiskey, he obliged. Her efforts to get Mike’s attention were not in vain as from that night on the pair were inseparable. They spent the next 3 months exploring all of London and Europe together. As all good things do, the semester eventually came to an end and after a tear-filled goodbye Mike made his way back to Boston and Liz to DC. Life went on but Michael and Elizabeth never went more than six months without speaking and occasionally seeing each other. The time spent together was short and the distance was too long for a relationship to develop. Eventually fate decided to step-in when Liz move to Philadelphia and shortly thereafter Mike to Connecticut. Now only 2 hours apart, the pair made plans to visit each other. The trips became more frequent and texting/calls to each other became daily. Eventually there was no more fighting the love they had for each other, so Michael and Elizabeth decided to embark on something that never works... a long-distance relationship. Well as you might have guessed, they beat odds.
