Marrisa likes to say that she and Grant met the old fashioned way – on Hinge! They initially bonded over Marrisa’s stated interests in golf (or actually just guys that play golf), fantasy football, and the top Drake songs of all time (they both agree that Tuscan Leather is criminally underrated). They continued to text and call each other all weekend long and by Sunday they both knew they had to meet each other for a first date. Marrisa recalls that on Sunday afternoon she told her closest girlfriends that Grant would end up being the one. Delusional? Yes. Fortune teller? Quite possibly. They decided to meet at District Winery for half price bottle of wine night and spent the next 3 hours talking, laughing, and falling in love. When they got the tab, Marrisa was only a little (actually very) annoyed that wine was only half priced with the purchase of an entrée, which was not mentioned by their server, but before she could ask for the manager, Grant whipped out his wallet like a true gentleman and totally handled it. After that, they bounced around Navy Yard until nearly 1am when they had to call it quits because of work in the morning (it was a Sunday after all). Over the next few months, they couldn’t leave each other’s side. They met each other’s friends and family, learned to love each other’s favorite tv shows (Marrisa now loves Silicon Valley and Grant will tolerate Below Deck), and travelled the world – seeing Maine, Miami, Mexico, and everything in between. Just 8 months into their relationship, Marrisa saw a plea from one of her Corepower Yoga co-workers to rescue an abandoned kitten and she immediately turned to Grant and asked if he was allergic to cats. About an hour after he said no, they brought home Charlie, their baby and now love of their lives. Marrisa and Grant both agree that it was love at first sight. After about a year of dating, they found a quaint little rowhouse together and made Shaw their home. Just a year and a half after that, Grant took Marrisa back to District Winery and asked her to be his wife. They couldn’t be happier to share their big day with their closest friends and family. And this time, no entrée required to drink wine at their wedding!
