How We Met

Coffee?

Like many couples today, we met online. After exchanging some messages on Hinge for a bit, we met up for coffee after work one day. Michael failed to mention that he doesn't even like coffee, but it all worked out.

A Few More Dates

Beer and Biscuits

Our second date took place at Michael's favorite place to grab a pint--The Flying Saucer. While we shared some appetizers and more about ourselves, we realized we had a lot in common and enjoyed spending time together. Our third date involved going to Sunday Mass followed by a biscuit brunch at Loveless Cafe. After that, we made seeing each other a weekly, if not multi-weekly occurrence.

Making It Official

A month or two after meeting, we had not one, but two conversations about making our relationship official. Therefore, we don't really know when our official anniversary is. We tend to celebrate our first meeting instead, but we think 12/31 sounds like a great new anniversary.

Our Day-to-Day

We sometimes ask each other if we ever get sick of each other. While we have our moments, but we truly love spending time with each other. 2020 taught us a lot about spending time together just as a couple. We both love cooking. Meghan is a baking machine and Michael loves to grill and use the meat smoker. We both enjoy staying active and going to our gym. Michael brews the beer and Meghan helps with bottling. We love sharing a glass of good bourbon with our friends. We love watching movies and binge-watching TV. We have a great rotation of local restaurants we love to get take-out from, but we also can't wait to get back to visiting new restaurants and breweries, playing trivia with friends, and going to live shows. Michael says he doesn't love the cat, but Meghan has video evidence of him and the cat sharing many naps on the couch.

The Engagement

To Our Future

On November 7th, we had plans to go to Arrington Vineyards to pick up Meghan's wine club order and to have a bottle and some snacks. The weather was great for November and sitting outside was delightful. As we were having a glass, Michael made a cute toast to their future endeavors and future life together, which ended with Michael proposing with Meghan's grandmother's ring. Of course, Meghan said yes! The day certainly called for a bottle of sparkling rosé and some BBQ take-out from Martin's on the way home. It was simple and perfect for us.
