Our Story

Grace and Travis met in April 2019 doing something they’re both passionate about – at a D&I conference in Madison. Travis wasn’t originally at Grace’s table, but her boss asked him to move to balance the groups. Each table was tasked with creating a mission statement, and when Grace knew exactly what went into one, Travis was spellbound. That night, they went out for dinner with a group of coworkers but spent the entire time talking only to each other. In the months that followed, they stayed in close touch under the guise of "work." Four o’clock meetings would continue until seven as they debated unconscious bias, gender roles, and whose alma mater gets to claim Russell Wilson. Grace volunteered for the NC State Career Fairs and Travis joined as many corporate initiatives as he could – always extending his trip to Madison through the weekend, of course. While work periodically provided opportunities to see each other, G&T discovered that they wanted to be together for more than a week at a time. In March 2020, when work moved from the office to the home, Travis convinced Grace to work from his home. She drove to Raleigh, and they began their life together during an unprecedented time. Through tear gas from social unrest and years of pandemic lockdown, they shared the same four walls and every waking moment together. Amidst the uncertainty of a chaotic world, they found comfort and security in one another, and they knew they wanted to be at each other’s table for the rest of their lives. G&T bought a house together in June 2021 and added Benny, a derpy, lovable menace, to their family in December 2022.
