Le Vigan is the largest town in the area. Every Saturday morning a Market is held that offers local and organic produce. Stop by for a cafe creme and croissant, live music, regional specialties, and local charm. We encourage anyone to visit before the wedding ceremony on Saturday. For lunch at the market, we recommend Le Maquis. Hours: 8am to 1pm
For people that wish to explore the region (and are renting a car), our first recommendation is to visit the magnificent Cirque de Navacelles. There is a town at the bottom of the valley where you can go swimming and have lunch.
For those with a car that wish to stay in the area before or after the wedding we recommend a scenic kayak trip along the river.
If you are interested in visiting other villages in the region, we recommend the medieval village of Aumessas. There are wonderful places to swim, local produce, and beautiful architecture. On Tuesday nights they host a village party with food, ice cream, and live music.
Guingette is a french concept that translates to outdoor bar. This guingette is outside, and they grill meats and offer drinks. This one is held by our friends and is near a river where you can take a dip as well. They offer Natural wines and great food. IG @laguinguettedaveze
Usually starting the first week of July, The Rencontres d'Arles is a world renown Photo Festival. It is an amazing opportunity to sight-see the historic city of Arles, and view contemporary art. For those wishing to continue to travel throughout the south of France after or before the wedding, we recommend visiting Arles. It is 2 hours from Le Vigan.
