Our favorite thing to do in the city. These architectural boat tours are amazing. We suggest the River tour (there is more information about the buildings in this version), but the Lake and River tour is also great (you get a great view of the skyline in that one)!
Walk all along the river and stop at some fun outdoor patio bars along the way! Excellent for people/dog watching.
This is one of the best museums in the country! It’s the museum where Rachel learned to love museums! It has so many amazing paintings: American Gothic, Nighthawks, and, of course, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island La Grande Jatte (for all of our theater friends), among others!
The Bean is here. Taking a picture in front of The Bean is pretty much a tourist necessity.
See the historic field where the Chicago Cubs play! There are home games the whole weekend if you’re feeling sporty!
This zoo is awesome (if zoos don’t depress you) and it’s free! There's also a conservatory that’s beautiful and right nearby (and is also free)!
If you’re brave (just letting you know, neither Nick nor Rachel has ever done this), you can stand in a glass box on one of the highest floors of the Sears (we will never call it Willis) Tower and see the whole city!
For less brave people that want a great view of the city without feeling like they might die, this bar in the Hancock Building (we will never call it 875 North Michigan) is pretty incredible!
Rachel’s heaven. The best pasta. Such great pizza. Nutella crepes. It has it all.
Nick’s friend Marc introduced us to our fave dumpling spot and Rachel’s dad is eternally grateful. Down in Chinatown, but worth the trek. And you can take the Chicago Water Taxi there if you're feeling adventurous! If you don’t feel like heading down to Chinatown, QXY just opened a shop downtown with a pared-down menu called Jiao!
We’re not huge deep dish fans, but this is the best deep dish place if you want to try some while you're here.
