Josh and I met over the phone one Sabbath afternoon in July after the women in our lives intervened on our behalf. My aunt, whom my sister and I nicknamed Tutu when we were little, and Debbie, Josh's stepmom, have known each other since Josh and I were children. Tutu contacted Debbie to inquire whether Josh was seeing anyone, and Debbie was quick to reply. Josh's name had kept coming to Tutu's mind several times before she talked to Debbie. One morning, during her devotions as she was praying, Josh's name would not leave her mind. So she reached out to Debbie on that Sabbath morning. Meanwhile, two hours behind in Grand Junction, CO, I was getting ready for church and potluck downstairs while my phone was upstairs in my bedroom. By the time I went back upstairs, Tutu had texted me 5 times about Josh, and the last text message was, "Are you ignoring me? LOL!" I had just recently ended a relationship and was not looking for anything or anyone new. But on Sunday the next afternoon Josh called me, and we just hit it off. It was so easy to talk to him, and we seemed to be able to talk about anything under the sun. We kept talking for the two weeks leading up to my flight from CO to TN to visit my family and go to my sister's baby shower, deciding to meet in person on Sabbath afternoon. He would drive to Tutu's house and pick me up. Instead, he texted me on Friday and asked if I wanted to hang out that evening as well. We ended up spending several hours together on Friday, Saturday, Sunday AND Monday. My family had to share their time with me as I started falling in love with this wonderful man! And the rest is history! We kept talking and seeing each other in Sept, Oct and Nov until Josh finally decided he liked having me around longer than a visit. I moved back to TN so we could judge whether our long distance relationship was strong enough for a close-distance relationship. And on February 13th (because Josh can't do anything like anyone else, which I love) he proposed to me in the driveway as we were about to go out to eat for an early Valentine's celebration. So you see, it really does pay to know to people.
