One of our favorite things to do in Roanoke! Photo from a Parkway Overlook with Aunt Barbara last summer!
This is our venue and the owners are becoming friends. Great coffee, great vibes!
This is my favorite little gift/stationary/chocolate shop in Downtown Roanoke! So many fun things to find here.
This place has incredible cakes (for gluten-eaters) and an even better menu that has tons of Gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options. Located in Old Southwest near Second Cafe and downtown. We love it here!
This must be done when visiting Roanoke! During the winter we have a clear view of the Star from our backyard! You may even be able to spot us with binoculars. The nearby Discovery Center loans out binoculars to kids for scavenger hunts on the trails and pathways near the Star.
Local art museum featuring great exhibits and a fantastic kid arts area. Currently they have a Mo Willems exhibit my niblings really enjoyed!
Great local art and preservation and wood salvage store.
This is the Historic Hotel where Bekah works in the spa! It was built in the late 19th Century by the Norfolk Western Railroad. The week of our Ceremony the Hotel will still be elaborately decked out for Christmas with dozens of Christmas trees. It is open to guests to visit and tour during the Christmas season! Even if you don't choose to stay here it's worth a visit! They have a fantastic bar in the lobby (the 1882) - tell Henry that Bekah sent you and try his signature, award-winning drink!
Lovely little spot in town with great bookshop, restaurants and walkable fun.
This local park has so many cool things and it's located just off the Parkway. During the season you will be visiting it will have a walk-through light display. I'll work on reserving some tickets and we can all go see the lights!
Floyd is the cutest little progressive BNB type town. We love visiting for shops and coffee. An hour south of Roanoke on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
This is the waterfall hike where Charlie and I got engaged and where we did our handfasting ceremony last Christmas. It's beautiful from the very start, even if you don't feel up for a vigorous hike, there are picnic areas near the creek. Weather permitting, we definitely recommend a visit. Depending on the consensus of all we can arrange a group hike or picnic here.
This is where I broke my ankle last fall, haha. It's full of multi-use trails popular among mountain bikers locally. They also have cheap canoeing and kayaking on the reservoir. We love walking the dogs here! Only 15 minutes from downtown. $7 cash parking or if you're gonna go, coordinate with me to get a mirror hanger to get you free parking!
