It began on the first day of medical school in 2018, Drew and I were placed in the same small group for ice breakers. I was instantly drawn to Drew for his sarcastic, dry and intermittently off-color humor. Unfortunately for him, Drew was in a relationship at the time but we remained close friends throughout school. As Drew tells it, our love story really started when we began talking out about possible residency landing spots. After realizing we had similar preferences, we went on a residency scouting trip together January 2022. After three cities and thirty hours in the car together, he FINALLY realized what he had been missing out on and we started dating shortly thereafter. Fast forward several months, we both matched at OHSU for our residencies and the romance continued! After a year of residency together, we knew we were in it for the long haul and Drew decided to put a ring on it. Since then, we've even started planning for work after residency and can't wait to both get started in Roseburg. The rest, well that is to be continued... :)

For the proposal, Drew planned a hike at Cape Falcon along with a weekend on the Oregon coast for my birthday. As we got out to a clearing overlooking the ocean, I saw a GoPro hidden in the bushes and tried to run down the hill to not mess up someone's video. However, Drew had me come back and enjoy the view, and as I turned around Drew went down on one knee and asked if I would want spend the rest of our lives together. I obviously said "YES!" and shortly after our friend, Bin, popped out of the bushes to collect his video camera. Turns out, Drew had scouted the spot a couple weeks prior with his brother and with Oakley, and Bin went out ahead to take photos and make sure the spot stayed open for the proposal. He even brought us a bouquet to celebrate!
