Matron of Honor
Dorothy first met Karen in the laundry room at Stokes Hall at The University of South Alabama. According to Karen, Dorothy asked her one question and hasn’t stopped talking since. Later that year, they worked together as Resident Advisors in the dorms and later became line sisters (Spring 13)! They’ve seen each other through family loss, family additions, graduations, new starts, and weddings. Dorothy is also auntie to Karen’s two year old son, Grayson, and impatiently waiting for Karen and Matt to call with news of baby #2. For this entire wedding process, Karen has been the ideal Matron of Honor- providing valuable feedback and calming anxious nerves. Both Dorothy and Gibbs are grateful for Karen’s sense of reason and friendship during this season.
Best Man
Bennett and Gibbs are brothers. They've been all around the world together and have yet to strangle each other. Actually, Bennett is the one who inspired Gibbs' love for the fantastic and for reading, which he has carried to this day. It was because of Bennett that Gibbs discovered authors such as Arthur C. Clarke and Frank Herbert. Growing up, Bennett introduced Gibbs to Magic the Gathering and other tabletop games. As teenagers he and Gibbs left their mother alone to watch Half-Baked while sneaking in to see part of the movie Phantoms starring Ben Affleck. Bennett studied history while attending Guilford College and carries many of the schools core Quaker principals with him today. Through Bennett, Gibbs met one of his closest friends, Jacob Mumaw. Bennett is probably Gibbs' strongest advocate and they still find time to explore their love of various table top games.
Bridesmaid
Jessica is Dorothy’s sister cousin. They are cousins, but if you ask Jessica or Dorothy they’ll say “ That’s my sister”! As kids, they rehearsed all the songs from Bow Wow to Spice Girls to Backstreet Boys. They have fond memories of spending time at each other’s houses and eating an entire large pizza in one night. Yes, Dorothy’s mother was shocked and appalled. Dorothy and Jessica still laugh about her reaction. From summer sleepovers to shopping trips, Jessica has been Dorothy’s sister since the beginning. Now that Jessica has an iPhone, Dorothy FaceTimes her with the cats who also recognize her voice.
Groomsman
Gibbs and Mark met in an East Asian history class during their first semester of college at George Mason. Since then, the two have been nearly inseparable since through life's many changes. With his outgoing nature, Mark has always pushed Gibbs to move beyond his comfort zones and embrace the uncertainty life can bring. Mark is Gibbs's go to man for anything Warhammer related. Mark's a master at painting miniatures and discussing lore and strategies. They are also both avid fans of Lord of the Rings and anime.
Bridesmaid
Antionette and Dorothy first met in Dr. Nicholls’s Political Science class at The University of South Alabama. From the first day of class, Antionette, Dorothy, and Rae (look for her on the dance floor) became fast friends. Antionette and Dorothy had the quintessential college experience. From nights at The Grove to studying at the library, they experienced all the joys of college life. Now, they’re still as close while Antionette travels across the globe and makes strides in academia and Dorothy climbs the education ladder. These two have an incredible bond and don’t even have to communicate in spoken words. Antionette is Dorothy’s right hand woman!
Groomsman
Gibbs and Paul met at George Mason during a Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) game. That meeting 24 years ago later led to many other adventures in fantastical worlds through the years. Their friendship has continued through marriage, children, and many other life changes. Paul and Gibbs share a love for cats, board games, Warhammer, Magic the Gathering, fantasy literature, and politics. Actually, Gibbs' beloved cat Galen and Paul's cat, Avaya, were siblings! Without Paul, Gibbs would have never met Galen. Now, the two swap family stories as well as fun cat pictures. Paul's kid affectionally call Gibbs "Uncle Gibbs" and he equally adores, and they've helped him understand the excitement of raising young children!
Bridesmaid
As Dorothy’s Uncle Chris says “Breona is your little sister. Y’all fight like sisters. Y’all love like sisters.” Breona is Dorothy’s line sister. Out of 27, Dorothy is the oldest and Breona is the youngest. Their dynamic is truly an older sister and younger sister dynamic-just ask Breona where is Dorothy’s Delta bag? When Dorothy needed help organizing things for her grandad, Breona was there. When Dorothy’s grandad passed, Breona was a strong shoulder to lean and cry on. Breona and Dorothy became friends 12 years ago and she is the godmother to Breona’s twins and son, Jace. She truly enjoys watching her friend blossom as a mom and experience a mini Breona in her daughter, Autumn. Dorothy’s also striving to become the “rich auntie” so she can to spoil AuBree, Autumn, and Jace. Through it all, Breona has been a supportive line sister turned friend to little sister.
Groomsman
Steve and Gibbs have known each other all their lives. As Gibbs' older cousin, he has been responsible for introducing him to scary science fiction movies that he was far too young to watch. This cousin bonding time turned Gibbs into an avid horror movie fan. This shared love of movies led Gibbs to Film and Media Studies in both high school and George Mason. Steven introduced Gibbs to the world of Aliens and Star Wars. He also fond memories of playing Nintendo at Steve and Andy's house. Full of good humor and a sharing a love of Star Trek, Steve has been a fixture in Gibbs' life as long as he can remember. A musician, a journalist and a father, Steve is a man of many talents.

Wilesha and Dorothy met in a small group hosted by Hill City Church. After Wilesha introduced herself and said she was from Birmingham, Dorothy had to introduce herself. Turns out, Wilesha graduated from Ramsay and knew some of Dorothy’s Birmingham church family and cousins. Two Christian, Birmingham girls in the DMV-they became fast friends! From beach trips to winery day trips and Friendsgiving, Wilesha has been a steady voice of optimism and faith based reason. They often celebrate July 4th and plan birthday dinners and enjoy fun DC experiences. They bond over pop culture references, the latest shows, fashion, and Wicked. Wilesha has convinced Dorothy to watch Stranger Things, but Dorothy has not succeeded in persuading Wilesha to watch Sinners. Wilesha is frequently the recipient of FaceTime outfit and makeup checks. This will also be the case during the entire wedding weekend. Dorothy is eternally grateful for a friend she can explore local venues with and always readily answers the question “How does this look?”
Groomsman
Growing up only a year and a few miles apart, Gibbs and Andy have always been close. They were even on the same Track and Field team at McLean High School. Andy and Gibbs both share fond memories of hanging out at each other's house and staying up late to watch Star Trek, Star Wars, and Aliens. Growing up, Andy was always ready and willing to share Marvel comics and discuss X-Men lore. As adults, they bond over video games and craft beer.
