The town of Breckenridge is popular ski town and a short ~45 min drive from the ranch. In the summer there is a lot to do on the mountain, including: chairlift views, mountain biking, alpine slides, hiking, ziplining, and more. The quaint town offers restaurants, bars, cafes, spas, gyms, golf courses, and galleries. A must visit for out-of-towners!
In case you didn't know, Fairplay is famous for being the basis of the popular South Park TV show. Besides glimpses of replicated cartoon characters, the town of Fairplay will take you back to the old wild west. This primarily outdoor museum will provide a true glimpse of what that may have looked like. Reminiscent of a movie set, it's a fun place to wander around if you find yourself on Fairplay's Main Street.
When in Colorado.... Lace up those boots and hit the trails! Gold Dust Trail is a locals favorite hike. It's a 8.1 mile (13 km) out and back hike that takes you up 1,158 ft (353 meters) of elevation. Because it's an out-and-back you can decide how far you would like to hike and turn around at any time. Don't forget the serious altitude! Bring plenty of water, sunscreen, snacks, a rain jacket, and some bug spray. The weather is always a bit unpredictable in Colorado and it's best to be prepared. For those looking for a really serious challenge, check out Little Baldy Mountain which starts from the same trailhead (https://bit.ly/2oNpGq5). Hope to see you up there!
