Answer

Festive cocktail attire! Let us know if you have any questions!

Question

What about gifts? Are you registered anywhere?

Answer

We aren't registered anywhere because you being there to help us celebrate is the biggest and only gift we could ask for. If you would like to make a donation in honor of our wedding then we would be so grateful. Here are a few organizations that we love and support: The Ali Forney Center. A great organization that helps protect LGBTQ youth from the harms of homelessness. We've supported them for years. https://www.aliforneycenter.org/ Lift Garage. Fabulous organization with a great story. They are a non-profit garage that helps lift people out of poverty by providing low-cost auto repair. https://www.theliftgarage.org/ The Theater Development Fund. TDF is a not-for-profit organization that has been dedicated to bringing the magic of the performing arts to everyone for over 50 years. https://tdf.org/ The Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance is one of the leading organizations in the world fighting ovarian cancer by being one of the biggest non-government funder of ovarian cancer research and by providing support for people and families diagnosed with ovarian cancer. https://ocrahope.org/

Please don't keep it to yourself! We want you to have a delicious dinner too. Please reach out to brittany@modernrebelco.com or scotandgeorge@gmail.com with any of your meal requests or dietary restrictions so we can try to accommodate.

Question

Is the wedding inside or outside?

Answer

Most of Greenpoint Loft is inside. However, there is a roof deck that will be open weather permitting for you to enjoy a cocktail and take in the gorgeous views of Manhattan.

Question

Is there parking at The Greenpoint Loft?

Answer

There is no parking garage/onsite parking at the venue. The closest parking garage is MPG Parking located at 21 India Street. Open 24 hours. It's about a 6 minute walk to The Greenpoint Loft. On street parking is limited.

Question

I have never heard of Greenpoint or Williamsburg Brooklyn. What's up?

Answer

Greenpoint and Williamsburg equally loved by musicians, artists, hipsters and creatives and visitors for it's vibe and atmosphere. These bustling neighborhoods are in north Brooklyn. Both full of local shops, boutiques, restaurants, food trucks, unique coffee shops and beautiful waterfront parks with views of Manhattan. Greenpoint has one of the largest polish populations in the U.S.A. (and coincidentally is where Scot had his first apartment when he moved to NYC in 1991) and is almost as trendy and hip as Williamsburg. Williamsburg is the cool and chic neighborhood of Brooklyn and arguably all of NYC. Exploring Williamsburg by foot is one of the best ways to see the neighborhood. Wander into one of the many neighborhood bars or gastropubs for a quick drink or snack.

Question

Are there other areas to stay in Brooklyn besides Greenpoint or Williamsburg?

Answer

Absolutely! Greenpoint and Williamsburg just happen to be the most convenient neighborhoods to the venue but Brooklyn is huge with lots of great neighborhoods. For example, DUMBO (Down Under The Manhattan Bridge) has a fair amount of hotels (Marriott and Hyatt are located there). Just make sure you check out the time it takes to get to Greenpoint from whatever neighborhood you choose.

Question

What's the best way to get around Brooklyn?

Answer

If you are staying in one neighborhood, the best way around is by foot! But if you are going somewhere that isn't walkable and you aren't familiar with the NYC Subway system then a yellow taxi, Uber, or Lyft are your best bet (albeit the most expensive) around Brooklyn. If you need subway directions or advice shoot us an email!

Question

What's the nearest subway stop?

Answer

The nearest subway station is the Greenpoint Ave station (G line). It'a about a 10 min walk to The Greenpoint Loft.

Question

How long has same-sex marriage been possible in America?

Good question! Since June 26, 2015 when the Supreme Court ruled that the Constitution guarantees a right to same-sex marriage. Here is a link you can copy into your browser to watch a short video on the origins of the court case: https://nyti.ms/2kF0ZEU Make sure you turn the volume up if it doesn't have audio when it starts playing (lower right control)
