If you are flying, the Charlotte Airport is about 2 hours and 15 minutes away. Asheville and Tricities are more limited, but up to 30 minutes closer. If you are driving, Newland is located about 40 minutes south of Boone, NC following Hwy 105 turn right on Hwy 181 and right again after 2 miles onto Sugar Mountain 2 Road.
