How we met

10/5/2022

Joe and I met for the first time twice. We were initially introduced just before a campus Theology on Tap event (thanks Brady), but then met again at a local brewery a few weeks later. Joe made his first impression on me at the brewery with a regretful rejection of the awesomeness of Texas, but he's since come around.

Our first date

3/19/2022

Months passed of many hi's and how's it goings and even one January "can I have your number?" but it wasn't until we ran into each other at the university's Beauty and the Beast production that we decided to go on a date! During the play's intermission Joe asked me about different movies which were showing in theaters, and trying to read his intention, I picked a random one and said "yeah I'd love to see that!" The movie turned out to be very weird and not first-date material, but we just laughed and laughed about it and ate cheese fries after.

He proposed

I received what was a typical Friday text from Joe, "I'm coming over after class." As I laid on my couch reading, waiting, he walked in shouting "I have a surprise for you!!" Usually, a surprise meant something like a piece of lint from his backpack or a tiny duck he stole. Unamused, I said I didn't want his surprise until he pulled out a sick Harry Potter Lego set (Order of the Phoenix w/ Luna Lovegood- so amazing). I screeched, then went to open the box when I noticed it looked like it had been re-taped shut. Ignoring the fact, I poured the set out onto the counter and out rolled a suspicious white cardboard box. "Legos don't come in boxes like that," I thought, but I had a feeling of what it might be, so I pretended it wasn't there for a good 10 minutes (panic). While I pretended to build the lego set, and sufficiently increased Joe and I's heart rate, I finally grabbed the box and opened it to reveal nothing other than... a tiny cowboy hat! If I thought it was an engagement ring before, that thought left my mind at that point and I was just as confused as before I opened the box. Having a closer look, I noticed a small clasp on the back, and I looked at him and said "is this??", and the next thing I knew, he was on one knee, and asked me to marry him. And if you're wondering, yes, we did build the lego set afterwards. And yes, he does regret to this day not asking me to "build legos with him forever," but I think his first question was just perfect. After, he took me to dinner, and surprised me by flying in my best friend from Dallas in for the weekend!! The whole thing rocked my socks if you ask me.
