How We Met

We met the modern way — on Hinge — but the connection felt anything but ordinary. From the very first messages, we had an instant texting chemistry that made it clear we had to meet in person. A few days later, we made it happen. George planned the first date, not knowing that the restaurant he picked was just a short walk from Elizabeth’s apartment. She hadn’t told him where she lived, so the choice felt like a lucky coincidence — or maybe a small sign of things to come. That first dinner was filled with great conversation, laughter, and the kind of connection you hope for but rarely find. That night, the skies opened up and a storm rolled in, but instead of cutting the night short, it only added to the magic. We ducked into cover, lingered over a drink on a patio, and just kept talking. Six and a half hours later, soaked and smiling, we both realized this wasn’t just a good first date — it was the start of something really special. We walked away thinking the same thing: this person is smart, funny, sincere, and refreshingly direct. And even now, we still feel that way — just with fewer rain-soaked shoes.

How We Got Engaged

Over Spring Break, we took a trip down memory lane — literally. We spent time in both of our hometowns, Norfolk, VA and Cape May, NJ, visiting the places and people that helped shape who we are. It felt like the perfect blend of past and present, and unbeknownst to me, it was all leading up to something even more special. We spent Thanksgiving and Christmas together surrounded by our families. While with my family at Christmas, George asked my parents for their blessing to propose to me. He also let a few of my closest friends in on the secret: he planned to propose during Spring Break. And somehow, I had no idea. George had everything planned, including hiring a photographer to capture the moment in his hometown of Cape May. But, true to our story, a storm swept in and changed everything. So instead of waiting, George adjusted the plan and proposed a day early — which only made the moment even more spontaneous and unforgettable. But the surprises didn’t stop there. A few days later, I walked into my parents’ house to find a surprise party waiting for us —organized by my childhood best friends, family and George. It was joyful, emotional, and filled with the people who mean the most to us. It couldn’t have been more perfect — or more us: thoughtful, a little weather-affected, and full of love.
