Hannah so kindly made Ali a list of all her potential bridesmaids (19 and counting) when Ali moved in with George back in 2017. To make Ali's life a little easier, she jokingly said she'd be the couple's officiant at their wedding to remove her from the running. George and Ali took Hannah up on her offer, not only because she is the funniest person they know, but also because she has spent a good chunk of time traveling with the couple, including a 4 day hike in the Enchantments with just her, her father, Ali and George! The couple is very excited to have Hannah as their officiant, because they know weddings are better the more people can laugh.
Katherine Walker
Maid of Honor
Katherine is Ali's sister! So, obviously, they go way back. More so than anyone else in Ali's life (maybe other than her parents). Katherine lives in Seattle, and has bought a yurt to put on Ali and George's property (the couple are still working on making a spot for it). Katherine is kind enough to make Ali a regular part of her vacations to places like Disneyland and fancy Korean Spas!
Emily Lewis
Bridesmaid
Emily and Ali have been best friends since they were 11. They met at Four Winds Westward Ho while living in Lorien together. On Emily's first day of camp, she fell out of the tent. Ali saw this happen, laughed a little, told their counselor, and ran out to check and see if she was ok. Emily and Ali have helped each other laugh through all the hard times throughout the years, and obviously through the good. Emily is from Alameda, CA, so their friendship has always been a long distance one. Whenever they get together, though, it's like no time has passed at all. In September 2017, Emily joined Ali and George on a 2 week vacation to Hawaii, in which they all spent time getting to know each other/growing their friendships. Ali and George are both very excited for Lew to be a part of their day.
Aaron Smith
Bridesman
Aaron and Ali attended camp together from a young age, only becoming friends when Ali saw him in the salad line at high school wearing his camp uniform. They did theater together in high school, and eventually became "co-parents" at Four Winds, being the leaders of the Helping Hands program together for 2 years, Aaron is Ali's "first husband", so he's on the team to give George some pre-marital tips on how to make Ali do what he wants. ;)
Miranda Middleton
Bridesmaid
Miranda and Ali also went to camp together as children, though they really became friends in 2010 when Abby Rueb asked Ali to help Miranda move into her tent on her first day back at camp in some years. They've been mighty close since, including a stint where Miranda let Ali live in her house for a month, with Ali "paying" rent by gardening for Miranda. It was a great trade, and a very happy month for both girls. Miranda is a very kind soul whose chats really help Ali see her way forward.
Brendan Eagan
Best Man
George and Brendan have been friends since George was 4, mainly because their sisters were friends, so they always got stuck together. Now they choose to hang out! George was Brendan (or affectionately known as Bman)'s Best Man at his wedding, which took place at the same spot as our Reception! Bman and George are riding buddies, of all sorts- mountain bikes, street bikes, dirt bikes, trucks... almost anything on wheels that can go off-roading. He's the closest thing George has to a brother - he is his brother. Both George and Ali are very thankful Bman will be a part of their big day!
Casey Ostrander
Groomswoman
Casey and Ali go ALL the way back to 2009, when Casey was Ali's Assistant Counselor at Four Winds. Casey and George became close friends once Casey moved onto their property in November 2017. George was kind enough to move a trailer that had been abandoned on the top of the property down to a pad he had made at the end of the driveway so Casey could move up to the island and essentially live with them. Since that day, they've had secret rendezvous in places like the bathroom, the trailer, and even George's shop! George and Casey both share a love of cars, and picking on Ali. All in all, a very healthy landlord/tenant relationship.
Alex Bastine
Groomsman
Alex is George's Rockstar cousin! Alex was in a band called Brothers Gow, and George was their groupie, not only going to see shows whenever they were in Western Washington, but also traveling with them from time to time in TRUE groupie fashion. George has many fond memories of vacations with Alex and his cousins, swimming in oceans and lakes and having a grand old time. When George brought Ali to a Brothers Gow concert to meet Alex, Ali was prepared for a man hairier and crazier than George, and she was pleasantly surprised by Alex's clean cut and bespectacled visage!
