How We Met

We met almost seven years ago -- actually exactly seven years from our wedding weekend! One of our best friends, Rhett Spencer, introduced us over Labor Day Weekend at Sullivan's Island. We remember spending the whole day swimming in the ocean talking and laughing, and then met our friends for dinner. It was one of those perfect days where everything felt easy and light. While it was a year before we officially started dating, it was amazing the natural connection we both felt on the beach that sunny afternoon.

The Proposal

Throughout the years George and Sarah have been together, they have loved surprising each other. This unspoken tradition began during the first year that they were together when George surprised Sarah on her birthday with a trip to New York City to see her best friend and maid of honor, Ellen. Since then, the surprises have ranged from small gestures like Sarah getting the holes in George’s work clothes sewn to bigger ones like George surprising Sarah with a puppy for her 30th birthday. Their proposal was no different – a true surprise! In May of 2020, George and Sarah moved into their first home, which George built especially for them. As they were finishing moving in the last of the boxes, George surprised Sarah by proposing in their new kitchen! He completely surprised Sarah as well as their friends and family (except Sarah’s dad, who he asked permission prior to proposing). It was the perfect way to start their life in their new home!

Our Wedding Destination

When it came for us to choose where we wanted to get married, we knew we wanted to choose a place that would have significant meanings for both of our families. With George's paternal grandparents having grown up in a small village in central Greece, Klafsi, and my family having a deep seated connection with traveling the world, it was easy for us to choose Klafsi to begin our marriage. Klafsi is located 9 km far from the city of Karpenisi. The name of village, meaning “tears”, emanated from the teardrops that were poured by the residents that had probably remained after the terrible destruction, from Galls of Vrenos in 279 BC. Nowadays, Klafsi gives reasons only for smiles and joy with traditional taverns and hotels for relaxing holidays.

American Party

If you won't be able to join us for our wedding in Greece, we hope you can join us for a celebration on Saturday, October 23 from 1:30- 5 at Smithfield in Turbeville, SC! Invitations and accommodation details coming soon!
