Although they grew up only 5 minutes away from each other, John and Rachel first met in November of 2016. Their first date was at The Anthem Sports Bar on Division Street, which was around the corner from where Rachel lived, and, conveniently for John, who still lived in Oak Lawn, his friend also lived around the corner. John did offer to take Rachel to dinner, but she said drinks were okay. (Lolz she was nervous!) Rachel was flustered when she came in, and immediately ordered a Bud Light, which John says made him chuckle since "that was such a Southside move." This also gave John the green light to order Fireball shots, and soon enough they were taking those as well. The Lakers were playing Golden State that night, so Rachel bet their bar tab that the Lakers would win. John, being the superior gambler, knew the Lakers were the underdog and took Rachel up on her bet. Guess who won... Rachel and the Lakers :) John continued to take Rachel out after that first night at The Anthem, and there were many drinks, steak dinners, and Bulls games (John and Rachel went to about 5 Bulls games their first couple months of dating). John officially asked Rachel to be his girlfriend in January, but if you ask him, he will say their anniversary should be New Years Eve since they spent that first New Years Eve just the two of them. Rachel and John live together in Oak Lawn now, and even though The Anthem has closed, they still love to drink beer, take shots, and watch sports together.
