Mal's favorite place to grab a coffee!
Owned by a local winery, this cute little place has it all -- coffee, wine and food! One of Mal's newer favorite spots in Redwood Valley.
Great local spot for breakfast!
Another place for a delicious breakfast. Gary loves their biscuits and gravy!
Great place for lunch. Delicious sandwiches, soups and pastries!
Looking for somewhere to grab a quick sandwich to take down to the lake or local winery? This place is fire!
Every time we're in town, we have to stop here for some scrumptious food and cocktails. Their Poseidon fries are to-die-for! This is a popular spot in town so reservations for dinner are recommended.
This is another go-to of ours! Beer, cocktails, food and live music in one of the historic buildings in downtown Ukiah!
Really great food and cocktails!
Delicious authentic Mexican food close by our recommended hotels!
One of our favorite wineries to visit! Sip delicious wine under the beautiful weeping willows.
Rated one of the top 52 wineries in California! Local organic winery. Reservations for wine tastings recommended.
The tasting room is open daily! On Fridays, they usually host live music on their beautiful grounds. We usually grab a bottle and go sit out on their patio, take in the view, the tunes, and the awesome company.
This restaurant and bar is located on The Hampton Inn and Suites property. We can't attest for the food here, but we love sitting in the moody firelit lounge, sipping on one of the really great cocktails they offer.
We love going here for a fun night out with friends! They have a full bar and a variety of axe throwing games to choose from.
Wanna see the giant redwoods? This is the closest place to do it! Head 30 minutes northwest to the heart of the Coast Range and step into the majesty of Montgomery Woods State Natural Reserve. A 367.5-foot redwood at Montgomery Woods was once thought to be the tallest tree in the world. Taller trees have since been found, but Montgomery Woods is still noted for its lofty giants.
Step back in time for a magical ride through the redwoods on the world-famous Skunk Train. Since 1885 the historic Skunk has made its way through old-growth redwood groves, over scenic trestle bridges, through spectacular tunnels, and into the heart of the Noyo River canyon. Today’s riders enjoy the same pristine views that have remained largely unchanged for well over a century. There are two separate locations to visit the skunk train. This is the closest one, in Willits. If you don't mind a further drive, you can visit the Fort Bragg location where they also have railbikes and a night train to the Glen Blair Bar -- a whiskey bar nestled deep in the redwoods, only accessible by the Skunk Train!
Treat yourself to relaxing in 100 year old soaking tubs, hot springs, pools, spa treatments and hiking trails. Two hour ($35) and three hour ($55) day passes are available Monday - Friday!
Lake Mendocino offers many recreational opportunities including camping and 15 miles of hiking and biking trails. There are five large day-use areas with covered picnic shelters and barbeques. For on-the-water fun, there is boating, swimming and water skiing. Fishing for large and small mouth bass, strippers, crappie, blue gill and three varieties of catfish is a popular activity.
Downtown Ukiah has so many cute little shops, boutiques, cafes and restaurants. Just take a stroll down School Street and enjoy one of our favorite little towns.
Take the 15 minute scenic drive down the 101 South to Hopland, which is home to 15 vineyards and tasting rooms! Hopland also has several cute restaurants and shops including Steep Coffee, Hopland Tap, The Golden Pig, and the historic Thatcher Hotel.
If you have an extra day, we highly recommend taking the 1.5 hour drive north on the 101 to Richardson Grove. Mallory grew up going here in the summers with her mom, and it's still one of her favorite places to camp or just spend the day! You can walk through the majestic redwood groves and bring your swim suit for a dip in the sparkling Eel River!
