This address will take you to an area of town coined the Funk Zone. We recomend finding a parking spot nearby and walking around this area of town night or day. This is one of the coolest parts of downtown Santa Barbara. Located close to the beach and just below State Street, The Funk Zone is filled with local boutiques (including the home of SeaVees' 24 Mason Clubhouse - Jeff's employer!), wine tasting rooms, breweries and restaurants. A great place to catch an outdoor market and view local art, food and drink. Some recommended locations are Dart Coffee, Fess Parker Wine Tasting, SB Biergarten, Municipal Winemakers, Lama Dog, Fig. Mountain Brewing, Shalhoobs and Lucky Penny. If you're an early riser, Helena Ave Bakery has amazing breakfast foods including one of Jeff & Gogo's favorite fried chicken breakfast sandwiches.
If you are looking to enjoy a glass of wine on the water this is the place for you! Located in the middle of Santa Barbara's historic wharf, this tasting room offers great views of the Santa Barbara mountains and even better views of the ocean.
One of the groom's favorite local bars; this Tiki-themed establishment features tropical cocktails as well as a few local beers and wines. Jeff recommends the Green Beast if you enjoy the occasional absinthe beverage. Caution advised as this beverage is small but mighty. Alternatively, Gogo recommends the Spicy Margarita (level 4 spicy)!
One of Santa Barbara's most authentic taco experiences. Tacos come with just a tortilla topped to the heavens with freshly cooked meats (or veggies). Once you have your taco plate head over to the salsa bar to top with cilantro, onion, a variety of salsas and lime. Gogo recommends the cachete (beef cheek) and adobada (marinated pork), whereas Jeff highly recommends the lengua (beef tongue) for those feeling adventurous. If you're staying in Goleta, check out their Goleta location!
Great local taco joint that doubles as the batting cages. Jeff & Gogo used to frequent this place when they lived nearby. 3 tacos for $10 with a side of chips and (spicy) salsa. Outdoor seating only. Better yet, take them to-go and head to East Beach to devour.
A gem near our old neighborhood that has great beer and wine and even better smash burgers. They have a great outdoor courtyard as well!
A great public market featuring multiple restaurants and a bar. Jeff & Gogo's favorite spot is probably Rori's Creamery but you really can't go wrong with any of their food joints!
This is the downtown location of M. Special featuring locally brewed beer. This location features food in-house as well as indoor and outdoor seating. Stop by for a beverage or snack if you are walking State St. and need a break! Prior to their relocation to Denver you would regularly find Gogo, Jeff, Lis and Nelson attending (and winning) M. Special's Wednesday trivia nights. The OG location where they brew and serve is in Goleta if you're staying in that area!
A great park to walk around and take in views of Santa Barbara. You may even see some paragliders taking off if you're lucky! Fun fact: Jeff and Gogo played on an intramural softball team when they lived in SB and this is where their games were held.
One of Jeff's favorite surf spots and Gogo's favorite beach lounging locations. Watch the surfers from the cliffs above when the waves are good or head down to the beach and lounge in the sand on a sunny day! Shoreline Drive above the beach features a nice park as well. Join us for a beach hang on Saturday after the wedding!
A great place to take a stroll if you're staying near the wedding venue. Great views of the ocean from the bluffs with beach access down below. Fun fact: this is where Jeff and Gogo had their engagement photos taken.
If you have free time, we highly recommend visiting the Botanic Garden! Don't forget good walking shoes, sunscreen and water. Bonus tip: if you're a member at another Botanic Garden, you might be able to get free entry with their affiliate program.
One of the best places for sunset and/or ocean views from the Mesa in SB, Douglas Preserve is a large open park that Jeff and Gogo used to take their dog Fin to. Highly recommended for dog lovers as it doubles as a popular off-leash dog walking spot.
