Mark traveled from Michigan to visit his childhood friend, Kilian, for a weekend of fall racing at Keeneland. After a successful day of betting on ponies and enjoying the best Kentucky bourbon, the boys headed to the rooftop of Belle’s Cocktail House. Mark was in high spirits, and he was out on the rooftop dancing when he first caught Sarah's eye. That bourbon gave Mark just enough courage to walk away from his friends and approach her. Sarah had just finished a long week of teaching and made a last-minute decision to grab drinks with her friend, Shelby. They decided on a whim to head to Belle’s, where Sarah noticed a very handsome man with a grin she could see from across the bar. In her true fashion, she just let him start talking while she smiled and laughed at every sweet remark he made. They spent hours talking on that rooftop, and before the night was over, Mark told Sarah he was going to marry her. Sarah played it off, but deep down, she felt a spark that made her feel like she had known him forever. Within a few weeks, they were official. Only eight months later, Sarah took a leap of faith that some thought was crazy when she picked up her life and moved two states away to Michigan. She wanted to end the long distance and be there to root Mark on while he started his accelerated nursing program. It was a big move, but they both knew their love was different and more than worth the distance. After Mark finished his degree, they moved back home to Lexington to start their beautiful life together. Mark is truly Sarah’s anchor, and he brings a sense of calm and peace that completes her. He knows her like the back of his hand and loves her with a depth she treasures every day. In turn, Sarah’s empathy and unwavering support make Mark feel like he can take on anything. She is the kindest person he has ever known, and her love has changed him for the better. When she loves, she loves with her whole heart, and Mark treasures that most about her. What started as a chance meeting and a dance on a rooftop led to a love that spans states and lifetimes. We truly cannot wait to celebrate the beautiful "I do" that Mark predicted that very first night.
