Question

Why did you choose to have a destination wedding? Is it okay to travel to Mexico?

Answer

While we understand that not everyone will be able to join us, we want to spend as much quality time as possible with our dearest friends and family. To us, there is no better way to celebrate this amazing moment in our lives than on a vacation with the people we love the most. We want you to celebrate our new chapter in our lives, while enjoying your vacation! We want you to be safe, but most importantly, understand that traveling is safe and we want you to enjoy your vacation in sunny Mexico! Hyatt Ziva is a high security hotel with zero access to people who are not staying at the resort. While at the resort, please use the in-room safe to store your valuables, passport, cash, jewelry, etc.

Question

Can we bring our kids?

Answer

We love your kiddos, but this is an adult's only fiesta! We hope you will understand our decision to make our wedding weekend child-free, and we know this will allow you to let your hair down and have a few margs!

Question

Is there a wedding room block at the hotel?

Answer

Yes! We have reserved a room block for our guests. In order to receive the room rates in our contracted block, you must book your reservation with our agent. Room rates include ground transportation to/from the Cancun airport. Visit the travel info page for all travel details. Contact our travel agent Mike Schellhase at Travel Haus by email or phone Email: mike@travelhaus.com Telephone: 314-842-6000

Question

How soon should I book travel?

Answer

We suggest booking your travel as soon as your budget allows. This resort tends to sell out quickly and it is very important to lock down a room by putting down a deposit. We only have a certain amount of rooms blocked with the discounted rates so it is first come, first serve.

Question

Do we have to stay at the Hyatt Ziva Cancun Hotel?

Answer

Yes, everyone attending the wedding and wedding activities must stay at the hotel.

Question

I am coming alone and would like to share a room with another guest?

Answer

If you will like to share a room with another guest, feel free to email or text us and we can attempt to pair you up with someone.

Question

What day should we arrive?

Answer

It is totally up to you! We will most likely be staying December 8th - 15th (TBD)! To make the trip worth while, we suggest arriving Thursday and returning Monday to allow for plenty of time in the sun with a day in between to recover from wedding activities! The wedding party should arrive by Thursday or Friday morning to be present for the rehearsal on Friday. Please arrive earlier if you wish and stay as long as you like.

Question

Do I need a passport?

Answer

Since this is an international trip, you do need a passport valid at least 6+ months past your travel dates. Passport cards are not valid for international air travel. If you have a passport, be sure to check the expiration date. If you don't already have a passport, it is a good idea to apply early to be sure you receive it in time for your trip. Passports normally take 4-6 weeks to process. We suggest applying a minimum of 3 months in advance as a precaution. Below is the link to apply for a passport if you don't already have one. A passport card is different from an actual passport book. A passport card only allows you to travel via land and sea, not air. Please make sure you apply for the passport book. Most passport offices are located at postal offices! The process takes several weeks, so don't wait until the last minute or we'll be drinking margaritas on the beach without you! https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/apply-renew-passport/how-to-apply.html

Question

What is the wedding attire?

Answer

Beach formal - we won't be dipping our toes in the sand for this ceremony and reception. The cocktail reception will be on grass, consider this before you choose your shoes. Think elegant beach wedding—dress to impress, but also dress for the elements. Formal attire is recommended (both the ceremony and reception will be outside). He should wear: Suit or dress shirt. Jacket is optional. Tie is optional. Sunglasses are welcome. Avoid: sandals, shorts, short-sleeve t-shirts, caps. She should wear: A formal summer sundress, cocktail dress, or jumpsuit. Dressy sandals, wedges or dress shoes. Sunglasses are welcome. Avoid: white, shorts, and flip-flops.

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

The ceremony starts at 4:00 p.m. Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early.

Question

Can I take photos at the ceremony?

Answer

We are having an unplugged wedding. We invite you to be truly present at our ceremony, and respectfully request that all cameras and phones be turned off until the cocktail hour so that you can enjoy this special moment with us. We really want to see your faces, not your phones. Feel free to resume snapping at cocktail hour. We look forward to sharing our professional photos with you after the big day.

Question

Do I need to make reservations for the restaurants and what are the dress codes?

Answer

Reservations are not required except for the Hibachi restaurant; they operate on a first arrived first served basis. For reservations, I recommend booking as soon as you get there! The dress code varies with each restaurant and breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We recommend looking at their website and bringing a variety of clothes. See below for the different dress codes: Casual: Access with dry bathing suits permitted. Men require a t-shirt, and women, a cover up. Sandals are required. Smart Casual: Dress shorts, dress sandals or close-toed shoes are required for men. No sleeveless shirts permitted for men. Women require dress sandals. Elegant: Long pants, close-toed dress shoes and collared shirt (polo style or dress shirt) are required for men. Women require dress sandals. Room service is available 24 hours per day. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Late Night menus are available in the compendiums located in each guest room.

Question

What is the average weather in Cancun in December?

Answer

December is a phenomenal time to be in Cancun! Days are warm and nights are cool and comfortable. Days can reach 80-85 degrees but generally, the average is slightly lower 72-82, more or less. The resort can be a bit windy. It is recommended you pack light layers for the evening temperatures and breeze. Ladies, please be mindful of the wind when choosing hairstyles and dresses for the wedding day.

Question

Do I need to bring cash with me?

Answer

We do recommend bringing cash in order to tip (1s and 5s) the people taking care of you. All tips and gratuities are included in your all-inclusive package. Additional gratuities are most welcome by the staff should services exceed your expectations. Otherwise, all your food, drinks, and activities are paid for as part of your stay! Tours, excursions, and spa treatments are not included.

Question

Can I drink the water in Mexico?

Answer

We recommend not to drink faucet/tap water, the resort will provide filtered and bottled water at all time. Water and ice cubes served at all resort venues are always filtered and safe to drink. We also recommend staying away from any vegetables washed and not cooked.
